As some of you are aware, i am currently doing a bastardized bro split. Essentially, i have a split like this:
1 Heavy squat
2 heavy bench
3 back (always heavy, baby)
4 Bro (dynamic chest, then tri/bi)
5 rest
6 dynamic squat
7 shoulders
I am absolutely having a blast on this workout. But i am a bit of a fatass right now. One of my customers said I looked like alan ritchson from Reacher. A coworker said i look like hulk hogan from the back.
However, i take off my shirt and look like if alan ritson had a fat, retarded cousin maybe.
Long story short, i am about to cut. Can my workout continue in this way, or is there a better split for cutting? Also, can i keep trying to lift heavy?
My friend, that is great advice. And i will. But truth be told, I have been on the power diet. So food selection and basic limiting will cut out 1500 calories alone
This is not a sustainable way to diet. Figure out your maintenance cals by logging/tracking and then start dropping slowly.
Dropping a ton of cals at a time if gonna derail your training and your gonna lose muscle and fat.
Why not start a diet/training log and we can help you drop fat the right way while keeping your training at a high level.
Totally agree, but I think he was just saying he’s got some real easy cuts just based on not eating crap.
Anyway, @Smashedguitarist, I’m in the “don’t change and log what’s happening” camp too. I will say, I find folks can get a lot leaner, with a lot fewer program changes, with slower diets. So it’s not about the ultimate bodyfat level or even the end calories that kills performance as much as it is the sudden, drastic drops.
Yes. I realized this with S. Gentz’s comment. I have swung too hard many times and felt weak. It is probably smart to go on a ~500 calorie deficit. Right now, I have been maintaining 244-248 lbs at around 4250 calories a day
So log for a couple weeks and be really strict with tracking and let’s see where you’re at. Once we determine we can make small drops to assure your losing fat and not muscle.
We are all here to help. Here’s my log if you’d like to check out how I do things. Your more than welcome to use the format if you like. Pretty much just copy/paste daily and make changes. Takes 5min/day.
I have begun the training log. I appreciate you guys for motivating me and judging me. I have thick skin, so dont be afraid to hurt my feelings…i only have three emotions, and hurt isnt one of them
