I was in a similar predicament with regard to pullups; i could only do a couple of reps.
I would keep the regular pullups but not eliminate the pull down until you gain more reps with the regular pull-up…
What i did was supersetted pullups/chinups with pulldown machine to gain further reps and did this for a total 8 to 12 reps(until failure) for 4 supersets). Eventually, you will be able to do enough pullups so as not to use the pull down machine.
Sounds like a great Idea. Me personally though I no longer use the lat pull-down because at first thats all I did before I could even do a whole pull-up. Now I think its for pussies. HA

Is there any good reason why you are not following a program made by somebody who knows what they are doing? If you have to ask this question there is no way you should be making your own back day. Not to mention if you have to ask this question there is no way you should have just a back day.
Well I am used to other sites that post hundreds of routines and am new to this site, please recommend some programs that would work well with my cutting regiment. Thanks
