Work Out Before Bed?

I find that i like to work out at night just before i got to bed. I find that the 8 hours of rest recoups my muscles and i don’t feel as much pain in my muscles even though i do the same about of exhaustion in the muscles.I just hate my muscles spasmming all day. But I do love the feel the pain in muscles as they heal. Means I did enough in my workout. If for some reason doing your workout before you go to bed isn’t a good practices please say so.

It might affect your muscle growth if your bulking because you aren’t eating for the hours you sleep

if you find this to be a problem, crack some raw eggs before bed for some slow release protein and drink some water so you wake up to piss and need a snack

if this isnt a problem i dont see the problem with it

The timing made me think about combining the GH release of PWO and REM sleep, add in some Alpha-GPC and this may be really nice for cutting.

Who gives a shit! Sleeping throughout the night is FAR more important than getting a few extra calories. Eat enough throughout the day.

One of the worst advice ever. Don’t disturb your sleep just for a few more calories and a little more protein. Sleep is far more important for muscle growth and recovery.

i already have Alpha-GPC on order, but what is PWO?

Explain to me how is it more beneficial… It is impossible to grow muscle with no fuel. Recovery yes, but growth is not possible. Where do you think your body goes when you run out of fuel at night?

Granted you could go right back to sleep it’s one of the best advice ever.

Don’t eat raw eggs, cook them. Raw eggs contain avidin which prevents the body from absorbing vitamin-B. I also believe that the protein in raw eggs is easier for the body to absorb, there was a study done in the late 90s that showed you have to eat something like 7 raw eggs to get the same ammount of protein as in 5 cooked ones. An old study though so I don’t know how much water it holds today. And last but not least there’s a risk of getting salmonella from raw eggs, it’s a very small risk (like one in several tens of thousands) but it’s still there.

I just don’t see any benefits in eating raw eggs and especially since they only take a few minutes to cook.

If you do this I would make sure you at least have a big PWO meal before you go to bed. I think overall calories is very important, but so is the timing. If you are just lifting then sleeping on an empty stomach for 8 hours, I don’t see that as being the best way to do things.

Waking up during the night interrupts the release of HGH, so you don’t want to be doing that all the time. The more days you can sleep 8 hours straight, the better. That’s always hard though. I would also never purposefully drink water to make myself wake up and eat.

Thats why you eat enough throughout the day to get your fuel. Save night time for sleep.

PWO is just an abbreviation of ‘Post-Workout’; I’ve always used it, not sure how common it is to say it that way.

In the sense I said, the natural release of GH after a workout

Just Biotin, not all the B vitamins (The Yolk is a great source of Biotin btw)

I echo your sentiments and other concerns on the topic, and also preach against raw eggs (Unless you want an emulsifier in a shake)

l also enjoy it, lve never had any problems from it. What exercises do you do?

I’ve always had trouble sleeping after a workout. I did a heavy leg workout once at midnight because I got off of work late and I couldn’t fall asleep until 4:30 in the morning. I also did not have any pre-workout drink of any sort.

I also have trouble sleeping if I train too close to bedtime.

I think its because when you lift heavy and hard your CNS is activated and will be on for a couple hours after you train.

I also think you might be missing out on the periworkout nutrition window. This would be jacking up insulin levels before workout and getting a good amount of calories after. This would obviously be hindered by lifting before sleeping.

Yeah, if proper caloric excess is ingested and Periworkout nutrition is in check (specially more in this case is my guess), and if it doesn’t affect sleeping patterns it can be done. I usually have a hard time with sleeping patterns even when working out in the morning/noon, so I wouldn’t even think about it.
