Muskets, cannons, and swords? No wait, they remove mass.

Would Napolean be a proud, lifelong drug free lifter? Or would he just juice up, and get the gains real quick and direct, and move on to other pursuits?

That’s tricky. You never know when someone is gonna quirk out on you in either direction.

I think we need to ask @loppar.

Evil? L’Empereur? Are you insane?

The man who brought the world Le code civil and fought the dastardly Englishmen and the evil Russians?

The only stain against his reputation is that toothless whore Josephine.

My money is on this.

If you’re bored, you can have a go at Galen of Pergamum’s works from 2nd century AD.

He described physical exercises (including lifting weights) in detail but apparently wasn’t a practitioner so he had trouble putting into writing what he saw in wrestling and gladiator schools.

Most of the understandable stuff is very Dan John-ish - picking something heavy, picking something heavy and walking with it, climbing a rope using only one’s hands, hanging from a beam/rope for time etc. but agonizingly some exercises could not be deciphered.

Oh damn. Sorry. Hey…

I thought we were including people OUTSIDE of this community. lol. My bad. But since I mentioned him, I might as well.

He was the embodiment of egomania, the kind of dude whom if he was a great athlete, MMA, powerlifting, or bodybuilding, wouldn’t necessarily be cocky but would give off an “I know I’m the greatest” vibe to everyone who sees him or meets him. Here’s a quote about what he thought of the French Revolution and his place in it. This was him commenting after there was an assassination attempt on him.

“They seek to destroy the Revolution by attacking my person. I will defend it, for I am the Revolution.”

Like I said, I didn’t realize we were only really talking about people HERE in T-Nation. I’m an idiot.

Just to add, Andrew Roberts wrote that the one great thing that made him distinguished even among other great leaders was his ability to compartmentalize his life. Basically, organization skills and multi-tasking skills. I believe if you can do that, you will succeed. It’s tough to pull off as most of you can attest. Train, cook healthy, go to work, walk the dog… All at the same time frame.

No dude, that’s not how this works. Take this conversation to a different thread. Please.

Surely the idiocy is in realising your mistake and then leaning into it as if it wasn’t.

Eh. Might be a little harsh, in my opinion. The comments are weird, for sure, but we also can’t say we don’t all love a good thread derail.

He was short and lots of bodybuilders started because of short man syndrome?

(Joke, just a joke, you shorties)

Maybe, perhaps. If I wasn’t borrowing his own description of his actions I’d agree that it was. As it is, I stand by it. It’s bewildering, to me, that a person realises their “mistake” after mild nudges pointing it out then decides to double down on that path.
