Ladies and gentlemen, tyranny.
Go on, explain how it’s tyranny. In the context of what I said.

Without dodging this time please.
You’d charge us, fine us, and jail us for practicing our religion.
I’d charge you, fine you, and jail you for not providing appropriate coverage for employees. If you provide the option to remove contraception from coverage of the employees own volition (hell, give them money back for doing so), then I don’t see a problem.

Practice what you want when it only affects you, but just remember you’re starting to sound like the Muslims who want their own Sharia courts.

Tyranny. Mak is going to throw Catholics running homeless shelters in jail!

Here’s something bizarre about the modern progressive tyrant. If the homeless shelter downsized (perhaps drastically), and only used volunteers, nothing. If the homeless shelter hired for key positions in order to maximize it’s ability to serve the poor…fined/go to jail. So Catholic homeless shelterd can’t negotiate compensation for employees one on one, between two consenting adults…but can refuse to hire anyone in order to avoid a grievous breech of it’s faith. No benefits, AND no wage.

If they aren’t offering equal benefits to all employees as other companies, then yes. Otherwise run your shelter as a proper charity, after all - that’s what Christians are supposed to be good at, right?

I guess that one is superceeded by “The right to be told your religious association must provide contraception and abortifacient coverage.”

You want to shit on employment law, really. Those laws are in place for a reason. If you want exemption, then don’t hire people.

Christian charity doesn’t seem to exist in this world of yours.

So let me see if I have this straight. Reduce services, let everyone go, only use volunteers and you won’t jail us…Bwahaha. Not only isn’t the coverage met, no employee is getting coverage, or a wage, at all. Nor are the homeless being serviced to the same degree. Wow!

Oh man, I gotta take a break for an hour. Simply laughing too hard. Progressive tyranny is as dumb as a rock.

That’s absolutely right. You’re not the only source for these services - get off the high horse. I’m sure Jesus had a lot to say about hubris.

He admits it! Rofl.

Seriously, I gotta go for a bit. lol.

Off you go then, I’m sure you could find more ways for me to think of you in the same light I picture Muslim fundies.

You can laugh all you want, but what you are doing is trying to shit on employment law and create special rights for yourself.

I’m waiting for the day you think there should be special “Catholic” courts.

Oh this is hilarious. He worries about ‘fundies.’ Yet, is prepared to jail people with improper beliefs engaged in completely voluntary exchanges. Mak, you’ve become the ‘fundie’ you fear.

I’m prepared to jail people who think they are above the law. You have employment law for a reason, it’s unbelievably shortsighted to think you can warp it to suit your Church requirements.

Enough is enough. You are not this stupid, neither are the people reading this thread - you want special rights afforded to these institutions so they can advance their religious beliefs.

“Special right?” You want to give people the right to go above private negotiations, in voluntary employment, in order to jail Catholics (and others). To forcefully coerce peaceful, fundamental religious faiths, into state-approved and regulated ‘allowed’ faith practices. Luckily, we also have representatives to overturn unjust tyrannical laws. In the meantime we have civil disobedience. So yes Mak, you’ll have us in the gulag, in your crusade against ‘Fundies.’ Oh the sweet, sweet, irony.

Actually, you know what? After reaading your posts again, I agree. Catholic institutions should enact whatever policies they want regarding their employees. Don’t cover anything that offends your religious sensitivities. Dig your heels in, keep up the good work.
