Women and Pain Tolerance

Article Title: Do women have a higher pain threshold than men?

No it’s the opposite. In fact this is from the very article you posted:

““Human studies more reliably show that men have higher pain thresholds than women, and some show that men have a higher pain tolerance as well,” Graham adds. Another way of thinking about these results, she points out, is that women show more sensitivity to pain.”

I know it is the opposite it was not meant to be a question. It is the title of the article.

I don’t think they should’ve measured pain threshold. I think they should’ve measured, “won’t shut the fuck up about it” threshold.

Seems self-evident. Men are better built to withstand the things that cause pain. As far as I can tell they are also impervious to cold. Compared to me, at any rate.

truth

As an aside, what would be a 10? I would imagine for something to be that painful, there would have to be some kind of psychological trauma as well. Like watching your leg get amputated. Or getting caught between the subway car and the platform knowing your intestines are going to spill out as soon as the car moves.

I think there’s a strong evolutionary component to it. Do you know how hard it is to hunt a wooly mammoth when the guy next to you won’t shut up about his bad back?

That would be my wife. I broke one of her fingers horsing around one time. She got it reset and splinted immediately.

8 years later I still hear about it.

I feel I tolerate pain better than I tolerate women.

This is totally against my beliefs but hilarious and fitting all the same.

For me, 10 would be viral meningitis. When the lining of your brain is infected and it begins to swell and the hospital gives you spinal taps to relieve the pressure. Makes a migraine feel like a cool breeze on your face on a sunny afternoon. That fucking sucked.

I’ve been beaten, bones broken, stabbed, tendons ripped and sliced, well over 500 stitches, 11 surgeries, hit by a car, etc… and none of that compared to viral meningitis.

yep, that sounds like a 10.

Never been any of those other things but Meningitis was a bitch. Mine was bacterial though. Not sure if that makes a difference. Passing a kidney stone was still worse, at least to me.

If you men would stop being so sweet and sympathetic when we get hurt, maybe we’d stop talking about it! Until that happens, which hopefully it never will, I shall continue to report my unbearably bruised knuckles and skinned knees.

I might just leave the wooly mammoth alone, and ram my spear into this fucker’s stomach.

Seriously, I hate people that talk too much. If you cannot sum up your point in 20 words or less, you better be able to outrun me.

Rug burns are temporary.

Ha! SKINNED knees show traces of blood and are therefore a legitimate concern.

You need to work on the clarity of your communication.

Done and edited. Cheers by the way.
