Wisey's Training Log - StrongEveryDay

How tall are you, **mate? I’m currently 97 kilos and pretty lean, but I’ve just started trying to gain a little to hopefully help my bench press.

**I’m not sure if I’m allowed to use this colloquial term of endearment, or not. If not, please substitute in “brah” or “fella.”

Haha. Use anything you like!

185cm mate. A scratch under 6’1

105kg this morning. 97kg will put me circa 15% BF. Not super lean. But will be happier there.

Not huge. Not small. Not bad for a natty.

That one must have got some weird looks in a commercial gym

A little yeah. But there are a couple guys there that have a go.

I realised after unloading deadlifts that I had accidentally put a pair of 25’s on the bar for second set (think it was 100 not 110). I worked out they also went on second on squats…so instead of doing 110/120/140
I actually went 120/130/150 LOL. Have update the log above.

Idiot. Hahaha

Fixed that for you

Accurate.

There was a guy there doing 60kg power snatches with pretty ok technique too hey. Impressive physique also. Later saw him doing muscle ups for reps. Then front squatting 120 for sets of 3.

Then I saw a guy bending in the Smith machine…with about 1/4 ROM. Then the same ROM on the isolat row and lat pulldown. Fuck some people are misguided.

This is a very polite way to say it. Also this is probably a very true way of saying it. There are probably a lot more people that are just misguided, rather than stupid. Although, there’s probably a level of stupidity that allows them to be misguided. I don’t know what I’m getting at here. Nice lifting.

I actually think the 1/4 ROM guy was on gear. Nothing wrong with that…but man, take advantage of it yeah?!

Time under tension bro. It’s the new thing

Ive wondered if 1/4 squatting above my max would help me. But ive never tried it.

It could have value as an accessory I think.
Think high pin squats.

I think there is 1/4 squatting and there is 1/4 squatting. Using pins to work a smaller range of motion and to use heavier weights is definitely a strategy that can work. Same as using reverse bands to take some load off the bottom can work. But loading up way more than you can lift and moving a few inches whilst straining like you are trying to pass a watermellon whilst your mate says…its all you bro is something else. LOL

The urge to train more frequently is starting to build up again lol.

Session two of deload/pivot week.

Ssb squat:

22.5x5
22.5x5
62.5x3
82.5x3
102.5x2
122.5x1

All reps paused as deep as I could force the issue. Very deep…

Bench:

20x20
60x8
80x4
100x1
120x1
130x1
110x4

Seated row:

70x17…to technical failure straight off the final set of bench. Fun. Burned.

BB Curls:

20x20
20x20
20x10
20x8
20x7
20x5

All with 10 second rests. Strict.

My god. We continued until not more than 5 were possible. I wanted to stop very early every set LOL. But I had to beat my mate. Which I did. :stuck_out_tongue:

1L of Chocolate Milk to finish. Managed to swindle it into my macros. :stuck_out_tongue:

Fin.
