Fuck them all. You can hear the horrible screams as they are beheaded with a KNIFE!!, not like being chopped off with an axe, these people die horible painful deaths. All while the murderers are chanting “Allahhh”!

I’m Muslim.

I don’t go around beheading Christians.

People who do this obviously got something wrong somewhere down the line…

Yes, everything on that site is horrible. But it’s also extremely freaking biased. There are alot of stupid people in this world… but if you think all (Wikipedia) 1.3 billion to 1.8 billion Muslims are all that horrible… you are retarded.

I do not condone anything on that site.

And just because the MURDERERS themselves are chanting “Allahhh” does not mean that is Islamic in ANY way. It means a bunch of fucked up pricks are doing something FALSELY ‘in the name’ of God.

There is a difference between the actual religion and it?¢??s normal institutions. I have no problems with an individual or their beliefs in Islam. I do have a problems with institutions that promote or at least tolerate these things.

Judaism and Christianity have had their institutions do horrible things. The difference of course being that most of that was back in the middle ages or earlier. Both Christian and Jewish institutions moved to snuff out this kind of barbarism long long ago, Islam really hasn?¢??t.

So I do have a problem with Islam but as an institution.

You could also divide this among culture lines. I have a serious problem with cultures that tolerate wife abuse and these sorts of things, a lot of middle eastern cultures included. But once again I differentiate between culture and individual. I can take issue with say Arab culture, without indicting individual Arabs in general.

Technically, Islam is 600 years behind Christianity and about 2600 years behind Judaism as far as its maturation as a religion…Maybe it’s just the natural progression of religion…

Actually Christianity and Judaism started at the same time as the same religion. Itâ??s in the old testament.[/quote]

At the risk of starting a religious debate, Christianity is the belief that Jesus Christ (it’s in the name) is the Messiah, Son of the Jewish God (and the whole holy trinity thing blah blah blah) while modern day Jews (ie Judaism) do not believe that Chris is the son of God and are still waiting for the Messiah to be born.

So, no they weren’t started at the same time … while Christianity is based in Judaism they were not started at the same time. Christians don’t consider themselves Jews and vice versa.

But I like religious debates.

What Iâ??m saying is that the Christian belief holds that they are the true Jewish religion. The Christian genealogy goes back to Abraham too. The Christian label denotes a sect of Judaism. Christianity begins at the creation story, not at the time of Jesus. Jesus reformed the Jewish faith, he didnâ??t start a new religion. Jesus was a Jew and Christians are supposed to try to be like Christ.

That maybe true, but when was the last time you saw Christians (or anybody) doing this:

Quite a bit of it going on in Mexico and Colombia.

I think he means they are behind in terms of social progression. In the jungle the strong eat the weak and in civilization the strong help the weak. While it is not true of all, and probably not most Muslims they seem the least civilized. Whereas honor killings happened in ancient Judeochristian people, they really don’t happen today - but they still happen not uncommonly with Muslims. I have not heard of any CHristians strapping dynamite to themselves or convincing their children to, and blowing themselves and others up - but again its not uncommon among followers of Islam. The majority do not do it but it happens with frightening regularity.

The religion has a long way to go to. USA Christian leaders need to stop committing so much adultery and Muslim leaders need to stop advocating so many Jihads.

The Koran is sick. There’s a story of a guy named Ahab offering his two virgin daughters to be raped by an angry mob. Then he gets them BOTH pregnant! He’s referred to as a “righteous man” on multiple occasions. Seems pretty fucking sick to me.

Thankfully Judaism and Christianity both have long histories of treating women as equals.

“I fail to see what use woman can be to man, if one excludes the function of bearing children.” -St. Augustine (I think he was Muslim)

“As regards the individual nature, woman is defective and misbegotten…” -St. Thomas Aquinas (another Muslim theologian)

“If they become tired or even die, that does not matter. Let them die in childbirth, that’s why they are there.” -Martin Luther (that dude was definitely Muslim)

I know what he meant. Our back and forth about the age of the religions was really sarcasm.

However your last statement is wrong. There is a distinct difference between a leader doing something wrong and instructing others to do wrong things as part of the faith.

Christian leaders acknowledge that adultery is wrong. They admit they are wrong when or if they do it. It is not part of their teaching in the Christian faith. Doing that makes them un-christian.

The 2 things aren’t comparable.

Your story of lot is not correct. He doesn’t knowingly have sex with his daughters as I remember it.

You having to go so far back to find quotes of christian leaders saying sexist things (mind you not half as bag as advocating beatings) proves my point exactly.

Why is this thread still in the Get A Life forum?

Isn’t there an Java applet or something that can detect religious debates beginning to form within a thread, and automatically dump the whole thread to Politics and World Events?

Ah, but Iâ??m not arguing religion, Iâ??m arguing religious institution. Thatâ??s my whole point.

Yeah, as the story goes his daughters got him drunk. It was their fault. Can’t trust a woman!

That’s a great defense too. I’m sure it would hold up in court today. And those must have been some really fertile mofo’s back then to get both his daughters knocked up on the first shot each.

The Council on Biblical Manhood & Womanhood (1997)

“…God, by creating Adam first (Gen. 2:18; 1 Cor. 11:8) and also by creating woman for man (Gen. 2:18,20,22; 1 Cor. 11:9), has set the gender-based role and responsibility of males in the most basic unit of society (the family) to be that of leader, provider and self-sacrificial protector (also cf. Eph. 5:25; 1 Peter 3:7), and likewise has set the gender-based role and responsibility of females to be that of help and nurture (Gen. 2:18) and life-giving (Gen. 3:20) under male leadership and protection (cf. 1 Peter 3:7)…”

Any improvements over the past 20 years?

“The Bible clearly teaches that men and women are equal in value and dignity and have distinct and complementary roles in the home and the church…”

Equality!

“Ephesians 5 calls husbands and wives to relate to one another as a picture of Christ and the church. The picture involves the humble, sacrificial leadership of the husband and the joyful, intelligent submission to that leadership by the wife.”

Damn, almost. Know your place ladies. Joyful submission.

I fucking hate all religion. It’s nothing but a LIE. There is no god, if there is PROVE IT!

Never heard of the council, no surprise.

However, I happen to agree with most of that. I believe the rolls of men and women to be different. I believe that we are different and complimentary in nature. None of that however means Superior or inferior.

It is the citizens role in life to be submissive to the police. I believe it their duty to co-operate with law enforcement.

I do not however believe a regular citizen to be inferior to a cop.

I guess you are against sexually segregated bathrooms then. Since men and women aren’t different.

You exist.

Come up with a better hypothesis for it’s explanation.

BTW, I agree with what you initially wrote. I just get pissed when I see things like “Fuck them all” and other people cherry picking scripture as if their religions don’t have skeletons in their closets. I hate bullies.

This should lead to an interesting exchange, due to the fact that you two represent opposite sides of the intelligence spectrum.

There was a banana thread proving beyond all doubt.

To each his own then.

But it was a nice attempt at spinning thousands of years of indoctrinated subservience of women to men. They’re not inferior, they just have the submissive role. And God says so. OK.

hey hey, fuck you!

I’m not like that, it was just initial reaction to seeing beheaded children and videos of us citizens being beheaded.
