I still can’t get over the fact that “you don’t need to actually beat your wife, just discipline her”!

I’d like to give any and all Muslims the chance to clarify that “disclipline” statement for the record. Please define and give examples of when and what is an appropriate form of disclipline.

You can beat her, three times at most, with your open hand and there must be pauses between the strikes so she can submit.

Muslim men have actually been sentences to marriage counseling, snicker, by sharia courts in England because they went beyond that.

There is a difference between the actual religion and it’s normal institutions. I have no problems with an individual or their beliefs in Islam. I do have a problems with institutions that promote or at least tolerate these things.

Judaism and Christianity have had their institutions do horrible things. The difference of course being that most of that was back in the middle ages or earlier. Both Christian and Jewish institutions moved to snuff out this kind of barbarism long long ago, Islam really hasn’t.

So I do have a problem with Islam but as an institution.

You could also divide this among culture lines. I have a serious problem with cultures that tolerate wife abuse and these sorts of things, a lot of middle eastern cultures included. But once again I differentiate between culture and individual. I can take issue with say Arab culture, without indicting individual Arabs in general.
