You didn’t like the Aliens forklift suit? I thought that was pretty sweet.

yes sir you are right. The funny thing but typical is that the OP snuck into the party and took a huge shit in the punch bowl, then slipped out while everyone stood around in disgust while some in the room argued that it wasn’t in fact a turd in the punch bowl…
Sometimes the “T” in T Nation stands for TRAIN WRECK LOL
I’ll clue you in on something else, nobody outside of this sport really cares that much about how much you squat, deadlift, or bench whether it’s in gear or not. I have told people I bench 605 and I have told them that I bench 850. Both are inconceivable to most. The response either way is “Wow, that’s a lot.”.
I like to have fun with people whenever people ask me how much I bench or squat or whatever. I tend to make up a different number every time, and then launch into a back story about how it was right after I tore my bicep in 13 different places, but now I’m trying to tone down and become more functional.

Whats more impressive to you? What one shows you the true capability of man? You can compare other sports to this all you want. Its like a what if pissing contest. We are talking about powerlifting here so lets not get sidetracked. The thing is your opponent(the weight) never changes.

Don’t know if this question was rhetorical, but… they’re both awesome beyond description. Period. These both show true CAPABILITIES of man. It’s not like we only have 1 capability, right? These two videos are essentially showing 2 different types of lifts that involve very different techniques.
Thanks for the vids, it’s a great illustration of how fucking badass geared AND raw lifting can be.
Agreed and that is one awesome robot suit, I need one asap.

i give a fuck what other people do! donnie thompson hit a 1300lb squat! who wouldn’t care about that shit? also, his depth was better on that one than when he hit 1200lb, which is mind blowing to me.
on topic, the argument that powerlifting won’t be an olympic sport because of gear is absurd. that’s like saying bobsledding or curling don’t qualify because they use equipment.

And yet you keep posting in it…

An even better comparison would be with archery. Its not like they give them longbows and say have it. Those bows are teched out.
Storm and Vdizenzo have both pretty much summed up the argument and proven it in real life. How many other accomplished lifters have to post in here before people get it? If you are strong, you’re fucking strong. Now go pick something up and put it down.

This will never end. If people actually gave a shit about the sport, they would be active in every facet of it. But, everyone is full of shit so it will probably just go down in flames eventually.
I think it boils down to most people get into this sport to impress others. Lets be real most of us have an ego. So if someone is better it cant be because they work hard to achieve what they have, its the gear, the steroids, the federation…etc…
It boils down to personality. Some people just make excuses and cant accept others having success they have not had yet. They watch a 800 pound squat and say “he should be doing that with out knee wraps, not that impressive, should have walked it out.” And its always Johnny fucking 400lb squat “raw, with just a belt, ATG bro”
Also everyone wants to be a fucking Guru these days. So they put down those who achieve to make themselves look better.
If you don’t like it don’t do it. And don’t force your beliefs on others. Just post your own thread with the title “RAW, NATTY, ATG” and talk about how to achieve what you guys achieved to the people who want to lift that way.
Its not the gear, the drugs or the federations that keep the sport back. Its the way this world is today. Today its more about swag, skinny jeans, looks and other shit. Its not about being strong and awesome.
In the end, those who make the higher levels of this sport do not concern their selves with what others are doing. They have their goal and do what it takes to reach it and don’t make excuses for what they have done thus far.

Agreed. By the way I wasn’t trying to be a kiss ass which is kind of what it looks like I did. I just meant you both lift raw and equipped and are proficient at both.
Oh well, theres always crossfit.
Can only safely or possibly do some chicks with a rubber on.
Can only safely or possibly do some lifts with gear on.
Can do some chicks raw
Can do some lifts raw.
I’d rather be good at both than just one.
You should understand why rubbers are important. And likewise why gear is important. If you don’t like gear. You want more people to have AIDS. And that makes you a bad person.

I would bet my paycheck that you couldn’t squat what you squat raw the first few times in a squat suit.
try it sometime, you may actually like it.
Funny story, When I was in high school I went to the state powerlifting meet for high school(Ohio) and I seen all these people with gear(only was a sophomore). I was like wtf squat suits, knee wraps? I ended up winning squat in my weight class with nothing but a belt and some short shorts. My Life=WINNING
I wouldn’t say I couldn’t do it but I’m sure it would be really different. I have used single plyo before but that was years ago. Maybe I will try it one day but with this army life it makes it hard to get serious into powerlifting. It is frowned upon they would rather have me run 10 miles.

Turning powerlifting into a technique sport is as logical as turning golf into a strength sport by increasing the weight of the golf club to 20 pounds.
