Why The Obsession With Arms?

Your peers are looking upon boy bands as the epitome of manhood, due to the MTV retardation factor. But when those girls grow into women, they will start then to appreciate and understand muscle better. Chicks 30+ years old think we’re hawt.

If you are over 30 and not fat you are better than most. If you are over 30 and lean and muscular, watch out. You are an extreme rarity and you will be hunted. Women over 30 want a man, badly.

If you are “hawt” to boot you can pretty much take your pick. I love going to the pool with the family and seeing all the mom’s reaction. I’m not ripped or huge, but I’m getting there (95% of the time I’m the most muscular guy there). My wife tells me all the time about how all her friends comment to her about me. It’s funny. The under 30 women don’t even give me a second look.

i so agree with this. at my 20 year highschool reunion, i was the biggest(muscle wise) guy there. some looked like they were in OK shape(not obese) but most and puny arms and flat asses and soft pooch guts. when i shook their hands i felt as if i could crush them.
sad. i totally believe the poliquin article about test levels being very low in this population.

over 30(and 40) year old women want a real man.

contrast to my current GF’s 15 year old daughter, that thinks ANY guy under 20 years old, skinny, with visible abds, and corn-rolls is HOT. haha. she thinks i look “gross”, and my “neck is too big”, haha.

I think the general public is used to seeing a muscle out of proportion, if you know what I mean.

Someone who bikes might have larger legs. Someone with arms will similarly look impressive.

However, around here we have most trying to be proportioned, so nothing jumps out. Hell, just today somebody tried to offer me a medium t-shirt. What the …? I’m not huge by any means but it’s been quite a while since I’ve squeezed into a medium t-shirt.

This thread has peaked my interest…First yes OP you sound SERIOUSLY jealous, but dont worry you are young. It also sounds like puny wrestler guy that you so despise for his big arms is getting attention from someone you desire attention from.

Second, as a former wrestler and 140 pound monster I got TONS of attention when I got to college. Still had the 6pack but was nothing more than just cut due to all the body weight work wrestling required. I constantly got, “dude why dont you put some fuckin weight on” from all my friends etc etc…needless to say I didn’t make any serious gains until I graduated and starting eating/sleeping on a regular basis(the food in massachusetts is just horrible and I dont think I need to explain the rare sleep patterns that college induces)at graduation time(2003) I was roughly 140-145 at 5’8 and now I weigh 170

ANYWAY, the point is that having been on both ends of the spectrum, IT DOESNT MATTER AT FUCKING ALL, GROW SOME BALLS AND STOP CARING ABOUT BIG ARMS GUY!!! JUST LIFT AND GO ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS!!!

I was merely making a point to the OP that the attention he may be craving is from the least informed.

It’s like when you go to a ball game. There are the flashy AND1 style players who make the alley-oops, highlight reel dunks, crazy handles and score 10 points and do fuck all else around the court.

Then you get a Ben Wallace style player who boxes out, screens, rebounds, makes assists, and scores plain old jumpers.

The flashy ‘AND1 style’ player comes off and the cheerleaders tell him how awesome he was where the ‘Ben Wallace’ style player has the coach tell him how awesome he was. I’d rather the coaches praise any day of the week.

That’s how I view the chicks in the night club and the bouncers.

I don’t personally give a shit about attention, but the OP seems to and I was just trying to put it into some context.
Ok, that makes a lot more sense and that’s what I was talking about, getting recognition from your peers as opposed of just finding approval from strangers.

Thanks for the explanation!

First of all, when did I ever say GIRLS in this thread? I have never and never will lift for girls. EVER. I can give a rat’s ass about what they, let alone anyone, think about me.

well anyway, I’m the kind of person who likes attention. and although this is some part of the equation when it comes to that wrestling kid, it isn’t all of it. I’m just sick and goddamn tired of people giving recognition to those with arms and nothing else. Basically, they’re being recognized for going the easy way out and not doing any deadlifts, squats, and compounds.

yes brawan I know EXACTLY what ur talking about. I feel this exact way whenever I deadlift.

Oh and that ben wallace analogy was awesome. the thing is, I just have never gotten any praise from the “coach-type” of person yet.

I also may want to rethink about that kid’s arm size. If Lee Priest only had 18-inch arms on his size, he may have like 16 inch arms then. I do admit that it looks big on him because he’s short but I also guess its due to his leanness.

and im sorry t3h_Squirr3l if I offended u. the fact is, the only things I see wrestlers do is run, drills, pushups, pull ups and curls.

Yeah, but he’ll probably come from a weird country like “Austria” or have some messed up last name like Wartzenvader.

I believe a Family Guy quote is appropriate:
Stewie- “My! So it’s that easy to impress you? Consider yourselves luck I’m not after your gully holes…”

Have you posted any pics on this website? Or not yet ready?
B.b. in stress! wrote:

Arms are some of the most important parts of the body, if not THE most, when talking about a great physique. Arms can make or brake a physique and it’s the first thing I look at in a bodybuilder. If his arms suck, to me he sucks.

And the reason arms&nothings get recognition is because when in almost any kind of clothes arms are the first things you’ll probably be able to see exposed. The guy’s got a trick and he’s taking advantage of it, he’s 3’1 or whatever, give him a brake already.

Damn,I aint seen Majin post in awhile.

To the OP,get over it.I’m a senior aswell and I’m sittin at 220lbs and the closet people to my weight are 170lbs,but they look 150.Girls say I’m “too big” and w/e but I dont care, none of the guys mess with me and they get pissy when they compare their lifts to mine(which arent that great, which makes theirs even worse). My arms are 17 “cold”(i measured them right this time) and 17 and 3/4 “flexed”.A lot of people ask me to flex, and I hate it.Most people try to make me think I’m fat since I’m bigger then just about all the “fit” guys. They also tease me because I ahve to eat so much to keep the weight on.

I learned to say “Fuck you” awhile ago,and life is so much better. Also finding friends who lift helps.

Arnold never fails us. Call them “girly men”…

Thanks.

Exactly. Getting respect from those that know something is satisfying.

I was telling this woman a while back that I was going to watch a friend in a bodybuilding comp on the weekend. She said “You know who should go in a bodybuilding comp. David Beckham. He’s got great big muscles.”

She was deadly serious.

I think people that do lift for chicks are better suited to bodybuilding.com or wannabebig.

If you want to see any of these “pussy physiques”, take a look at a high school wrestling team and you’ll instantly understand what point I’m trying to make.

What the fuck high school wrestling teams are YOU looking at? Every high school wrestler I’ve ever seen has been a BEAST even at like 120lbs the guy will be thick and have a neck like a bull.

I moved back home to take care of my mom recently and I saw the kid who lives across the street he just entered 10th grade, he spent all freshman year and last summer training… the coach apparently likes the 3 basic lifts and sandbag training a LOT. The kid is a BEAST. and this is from a school that is probably shit compared to say somewhere in the midwest or hell just a bigger town in california.

man ur post is kind of skewed bro.

BTW most girls I’ve met my entire life prefer a guy with a big back and ass.

this is the general rxn, tell me which one you like:

A) Girls who like arms… “I like to feel safe when you hold me”

B) Girls who like back and ass…“I like something to grab onto when you’re fucking me”

I’ll take B alllll day baby, alllll day

No worries. I should have put it that way in the first place!

Thats one smart wrestling coach you know there. I guess the coach at my school doesn’t even focus on that at all. I can tell noone deadlifts or squats because:
a) their legs just dont look like they ever get work instead of running
b) they have absolutely no midsection. and no I dont mean abs, I mean lower back

also my brother was in wrestling in two years and never once did he talk about deadlifting or squating. so ya, im not trying to flame EVERY wrestler. I guess just the wrestling coaches who dont train around the three big lifts.

There’s a guy who works out at the same gym as me who has huge arms and skinny legs. He has the hottest girlfriend I’ve ever seen. My friends and I refer to her as “the computer generated chick.”

I see him do at least 20 sets for his arms, but his leg workout is the typical leg press, leg extension and lying leg curl routine using moderate weight, if he even gets around to working them that particular week.

My ex-girlfriend and her friends would always refer to him as “the hot, buff guy,” which would always rub me the wrong way. I’d say, “hot, maybe, but buff, no. If he’s buff than I’m Hercules!”

To give him credit, his arm workouts were extremely intense. However, I’d much rather look like me than look like him, although I wouldn’t mind having his girlfriend to go home to!

Reminds me of a guy I used to know. Big and ripped upper body but his legs looked like he he was crippled. Seriously, his legs looked just wrong, like they belonged on a Kenyan marathon runner. Very unusual body, however chicks were seriously into him. His girlfriend was super hot. Everyone called them “the beautiful people”.

Whenever he had the opportunity he took his shirt off. He was a big biker (motorcycle) and wore jeans mostly in public. Always took his shirt off first thing. His jeans looked like if you just simply held them up in the air. Big pecs and arms will trump legs almost every time.

PGJ is right. Chics dig pecs and arms. I ask around. My last 3 serious relationships I asked in detail about what they like/dislike. I can tell you this much I came to a conclusion. Here it is so pay attention, this is valuable info here. I also asked alot of other sources, but my girlfriends were the best because I knew if they were honest or not.

Anyway, Here’s what I found out.

Girls like to look at your face while having sex, so that will be the #1 thing they look at. Exercise that muscle the best you can.

Now considering you butt ugly, what do you have left… the whole entire body.

Here’s what they’re looking at.
#1 - Your ASS! You dont want a fat ass, they don’t like that or a flat ass… they like a powerful ass or just something to grab onto.
#2 - Stomache/waist area (ABS, obliques). They like to look at the muscles and feel them against their body while having sex.

#3 - Now this gets tricky… (Depends on the girl) but Chest is #3 or sometimes they with go with the arms/forearms… they’re looking for power here. the chest is probably the most aesteticly pleasing powerful muscle to look at for most women
#4, #5, #6 - Arms/forearms, shoulders, back… this is more an individual preference in the girl… again looking for power here
#7 - Calves this is the part of the legs that they think looks nice when its built
#8 - Last and least… your thighs, they arn’t looking at your legs, they just hope they’re not too skinny or too big and fat.

Now this is just the law of averages. Of course their is some women going to dispute this and say “my favorite part of a man is his thighs”… but she is in the super minority.

As for my girlfriends… Here was their top 3 bodyparts that they liked, not on me but on any man.
Current Girlfriend - 1 Chest, 2 Ass, 3 Arms
EX#1- 1 Ass, 2 Abs, 3 Chest
EX#2- 1 Ass, 2 Chest, 3 Abs
