Why the mantra "get stronger to get bigger" is bad advice and how strength training infiltrated bodybuilding

This is exactly what I also think.

He feels that bodybuilder or a powerlifter is a some kind of badge of honor, while not accepting that many might understand the terminology differently.

He speaks a lot about identity. There it is shown. He feels we’re attacking towards his bodybuilding self. But nobody’s denying him feeling as a bodybuilder.

I don’t identify myself as a powerlifter, even that I currently train like one and go to meets. Some might say that I’m powerlifter nonetheless, but that’s not part of my identity.

Honestly, people who aren’t familiar with lifting use the their gym terminology so badly that this whole discussion is a form of ultimate nitpicking. How many of you have been called as a bodybuilder, no matter what you do.

What I particularly like is that OP got shut down, because he didn’t obey some arbitrary rules, that were made up in someone’s head.

Who knew that those things still have meaning and consequence.

I skimmed through past few hundred messages and found this being one of most absurd discussions for a while.

Im going to throw this out…

Since the guy threw out the contest he competed in. His actual name is available to everyone online. What are the odds this guy just assumed the guys identity?

Let’s just say I have some suspicions. Which got confirmed slightly.

Suspect it myself, but I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt.

The thought occurred to me as well… of course when he said “ clearly reading comprehension, isn’t your strong suit” I had a serious flashback to about 10-15 years ago….

Now I’m totally lost, but old acquaintances?

Which got confirmed slightly.

I’ve only ever known confirmation to be a binary concept. Like pregnancy.

Agreed. That’s why he keeps harping on and on about “internal validation.”

Ook..ok… how about “ my suspensions were made more plausible due to some dishonesty by the indvidual in question along with a simple Google search “? Thats the best response I can come up with at the moment

@The_Mighty_Stu is referring to a living legend know by some of the veterans on here.

I saw it as just another PT Barnum styled influencer. He was all too happy to discuss his “method” when given the opportunity, and otherwise was just arguing to argue to get traffic. Once it had gone in enough circles, it was time, but especially so with how personal he was getting.

I looked up the contest and was able to find the person who he probably is pretty easily. Great physique, definitely had potential if he kept going, especially if that was with only two years of training at that point. Although he did lie about how many people were in his class when @RT_Nomad asked, there were only 6, not 11.

Well i was bored and figure what the hell and did a Google search and found his Facebook page which hadn’t been active since 2018.

I asked for a recent pic yesterday to see what he would post..which he semi provided. A pic yes … But not recent but another dated from 2012 from the Facebook page. Which raised a red flag on my end. Which makes me question the validity of this poster.

Not surprising. If you think how he acted.

Not going to be kitchen psychologist, but…

OK ….How common is it for guys using others pics to create a false identity online?

This reminds me of a person I work with that constantly says “Note to self” aloud, intending it to be a note for everyone else to hear…

You could tell just by looking at the phone that all of those pictures were really old. If he were assuming someone else’s identity, I do wonder how he came to pick such a random person.
