Why the mantra "get stronger to get bigger" is bad advice and how strength training infiltrated bodybuilding

I disagree and we won’t get through this, I fear.

It’s powerlifting -style training if it’s specific enough. Powerlifting is the act of competing.

Fair enough

Well i thank you.

Who gets to decide which competition is legitimate or not?

Does it change anything?

If you’re competing, you’re competing.

But don’t compare results between federations.

“If you’re competing, you’re competing.”

Ok I competed with some buddies of mine in my basement on the big 3. I’m a powerlifter yay!

@Nyseto how recent is that one?

A bit stretch, but okay. Did you had rules and judges?

Yeah we all came up with our own federation. We named it the IGF (Independent Garage Federation)

And you had rules and judges?

We’ll then yes. If you seek validation from it (which seems to be big thing for you), doing a meet with 3 friends won’t get you much renown.

But technically you’re doing powerlifting then.

I will agree that if you found a qualified Powerlifting judge and he had time to educate two more people (most preferable that none are your close friends) and you conducted all three lifts the same day, then you have competed in a Powerlifting meet, though none of the lifts are sanctioned by any Powerlifting authority body.

Who decides what a “qualified” judge is?

Hopefully you find one who has qualified to be a judge in one of the federations.

To choose someone who has never competed in a sanctioned Powerlifting meet seems ridiculous.

You’re making a category error by confusing the practice with the performance, propped up by an appeal to authority that mistakes bureaucracy for legitimacy.

You don’t need a judge who has competed before lol. “Organizations like Powerlifting America require candidates to be at least 18, be a member, pass a background check, and achieve high scores on both a written and practical exam to become a referee”

I reckon my answer did not please you.

I don’t know how competing in powerlifting is not powerlifting.

Reading comprehension score: ZERO

I never said to be a qualified Powerlifting judge that you needed to have competed!

Reread it again and get back with me!

At this point it should not be a surprise.
