Why T-Cell Fails...

Most people weren’t, and apparently, they still aren’t.
Professor X wrote:
No offense, but this site has RUN OFF most of the hardcore posters that once were here.

If you all wanted that, then you shouldn’t have cheered on each author’s bashing of hardcore bodybuilding and/or powerlifting.

Blame the authors…not the guys that are still here after all of these years.

I honestly can’t believe some of you STILL don’t realize
this.

You all do know this site was here for years before you arrived, right?

RIP Goldberg and Patricia…and many others who left who were exactly what you are talking about.
I don’t know if you were talking to me directly, but I’m definitely in the camp cheering against the bashing of hardcore lifting.

I’ve lurked for a few years, not so far back as the ‘hardcore years’ you describe, but I have noticed a ‘climate change’ in the forums in that short time frame. I guess there aren’t enough truly hardcore posters to make an ‘elite’ group.

The sad reality is that limiting participation will limit quality. Half the fun of the forums is reading well informed members who respond to “frat curler”, etc.

While I will always defend the rights of private property I also like to point out that it is self-destructive to limit access. Alienating the majority of members is not in the interest of good business.

The other thing that makes me scratch my head is that once other members become t-cell members then it will most certainly lose its appeal to those wishing to be part of an elite group. There are many who will not vote to expand membership simply to keep the group small.

I suspect that T-Cell threads will not be very active and that t-cell members will still be in the regular threads seeking “active” discussion. I’d like to go visit the t-cell forums after a few months and see how they have grown.

The threat of being “voted out” will also stifle dissent and therefore there will never be any growth in knowledge passed in those forums.

What is the point of having a discussion with the people one already knows and agrees with?

To me that is exactly the point.

If it flies,it is the template for what could be a much more self governed situation.

I don’t see how anyone can be anti that.

You sure don’t pay attention do you. I’ve picked quite a few people because they do NOT agree with me on many issues.

How dumb do you think many of us are?

This has been done before. Some of us have seen what didn’t work before…like keeping the group too small.

That is why there are quite a few people who are members now…but I would assume most chosen ACTUALLY PARTICIPATE IN THE TRAINING FORUMS AND HAVE ACTUALLY DEBATED WELL BEFORE OR AT LEAST SHOW POTENTIAL.

Being elite is not the prerequisite for this cell.

Being respectful of the goals of others is.

??? That doesn’t fit the original Alpha members’ posting habits. And hundreds of posters here respect others’ goals, so they should be in the Alpha cell by your reasoning.

Are you joking? Most of the people here seem to act as if bodybuilding should be avoided like the plague because they read it on this site often.

I don’t want a huge group of people who want to stay sub-170lbs in that group even if they do “respect other people’s goals”. Obviously, there will be SOME, but hopefully most are more serious than that.

Save the rhetoric for the political forum.

Look around the damn forum. There is already a heated discussion going on about the V-Diet. Oddly enough, that debate was not allowed until the T-Cell was formed.

It’s been three fucking days. Those of you wanting blood and guts will undoubtedly get your bloodlust sated if you will just give it some fucking time.

Good God. How many times does it need to be said?

I guess they think we were making up all of the censorship going on. We couldn’t say jack shit about the V-Diet until RIGHT NOW.

So you are the ruler of T-Cell land? What about the other members? Who will they pick? Will you ensure that they pick people whom they don’t agree with, too?

I can pretty much guarantee you that a discussion like this one (a good one) will never happen in the T-Cell.

Oh, I don’t think there are very many dumb people, in general, who can complete a well formed, coherent sentence. It isn’t a matter of being dumb. It is a matter of being limited.

So this time will be different, eh?

Don’t get me wrong, I am sure some of the topics will be great (I have half a mind to start my own V-died thread, for example). I just wonder how “complete” they will be. The potential of the threads is greatly reduced when participation is reduced. There are only so many opinions to go around in a limited population.

You just don’t get it. You don’t even read what is written in this very thread - what difference would additional participation make in the T-Cell?

Your points are invalid due to your inability to read and comprehend the written word.

This is a GOOD discussion? This is you and some others who were clearly unaware of the heavy handed moderation and censorship going on with this forum lately griping because you don’t even understand the motives.

You, for instance, mostly post in the political forum. I would never pick you just like I wouldn’t pick JeffR. If someone else chose to add you, that is their decision.

It is NOT MY forum, but I, along with a few others, were chosen to start it and build on it…and that is what we have done.

If this pisses you off so much that you were left out when this idea is all of 3 days old, there is a word for that…but I seriously doubt you would admit it.

I doubt anyone wants discussions like this in that forum. You clearly don’t know what you are talking about but really think you do.

This idea is to foster LESS censorship. That was the basic idea while allowing less bodybuilding bashing.

Why the fuck do YOU have a problem with that?
rainjack wrote:

But in here I am able to express them…

Thus the usefullness of that forum.

I think T-Cell Alpha is going to be my favorite forum. If I have something to say about what I read there, I’ll find away to do it. Like now, I think it would be great for a thread on how to get big legs. Not the eat lots and work your ass off, I already know how to do that. But actual routines the T-Cell guys have used to get big legs, just a suggestion.

This tangential football fucking is good for nothing. Period.

I am not asking to be picked…been there and done that in grade school. I like to read the articles but find little value in any of the weight training related threads – even when “experienced and elite” members contribute.

I consider OPEN discussion GOOD, closed and selective discussion BAD. I don’t care about the correctness or “goodness” of an opinion rather that someone gets a chance to defend the soundness of it – sometime I may even be swayed to change my mind.

There will always be disagreements in opinion and that is what makes argument fun. That is the only reason I am here – a mere distraction from my monotonous daily life…

Good. Don’t click on that forum and all of your problems should be solved.

Yaaaaaaay!!
