Zeb,
I am in Los Angeles, Nevada is 4 hrs east, and Arizona is a bit more than that.
4 Million people have already left California in the last 20 years, 870,000 of them left from 2005-2009 (that’s equal to the entirety of San Francisco.)

I don’t think that your Governor will even flinch if he loses another 870,000 people. Spending to a lefty is like crack cocaine to a drug addict. They know they shouldn’t do it but they just can’t help it. The scary part is the US now has such a man as President. If it comes between cutting spending and raising taxes you know what he’s going to do. He may talk about cuting spending but it won’t happen. And it won’t just be a tax hike on those making 250-k per year. As we both know that’s only a drop in the bucket. There simply are not enough people making over 250-k per year to make that much of a difference. Before his second term in office is over every taxpaying citizen is going to see a tax hike. But of course I think we’ll be into another recession before that happens.

I think I’m done with this forum. You can’t really have discussions with people like that anyways. This place is too filled with righty cheerleaders anyways. No room for an independent voice on here you guys want to suck the GOP ballsack and whine about liberals as if they are the only problem. I’ll quit getting in the way of that with logic.

Funny you mention spending, not even a week after Dems win a supermajority, they plan to introduce a TRIPLING of the car tax.
A week ago, they passed a $6 Billion tax increase, and there are 4 more tax increase measures to be introduced along with this car tax. Land of insanity bro…

We just recently got back to where we were 5 years ago in the markets. (Unless you were in Gold, lol) This means my retirement lost 5 years of growth, my daughters college fund lost that time as well.
I’ve had to do and re-do budgets for fixed income retired people over and over, because they lost 5 years of growth.
Now in this time you’ve seen QE1, 2 & 3, without massive increases in inflation… This should alarm you as to the state we are actually in.
But no, it doesn’t, because people can’t see the big picture. They see Romney’s tax returns, have no idea what % they actually pay in tax only a bracket, and foam at the mouth about “fair”.

Fairness. Haha. Fair like historically? Conservatives, always talk about wanting to go back to how things used to be, well why don’t we go back to what conservatives used to think were fair taxes say 40-50 years ago? Well, why don’t you just take a look?
http://www.stanford.edu/class/polisci120a/immigration/Federal%20Tax%20Brackets.pdf
These guys want to talk about fairness out of one side of their mouth, then talk about going back to the way things, “used to be.” This isn’t ‘America.’ They talk about gifts and shit too…
Look at those tax rates in the context of history and tell me who has been getting gifts… It’s been the wealthy, they just got so used to having lower taxes and loopholes that they have had a disconnect from reality and basic history. 1950 Romney would have been paying 84% on his income taxes under Eisenhower… But, for some reason everything is cool when Romney pays 14.1 under Obama, and they are going to play fuck fuck games with the economy while we face a ‘fiscal cliff’ as if they are some kind of Drill Instructors with new recruits. Just the best time to be fucking around with the economy, right after the people voted. Obama gets to enjoy zero of the stock market benefits for being elected, as the market usually bumps up healthily post elections, but instead of getting a jumpstart on recovering, lets just keep driving for the cliff and waste more time because they want their free shit.
Just a bunch of disconnected greedy, angry rich folks. They pay a little more in taxes, it’s not like they aren’t going to be wealthy anymore… And now, the dramatics of seceding. Kind of reminds me of watching my grandfather who had Alzheimer’s throw a fit like he was 4 years old when someone tried to feed him broccoli, except conservatives have no excuse.
You need to read more. You’re argument here sucks.
Not only do you not understand what a marginal tax rate is, without talking about the changes that came about in the tax code in 1986 you’re comparing apples and oranges.
While you are pulling out your hair looking for you next “ah ha” moment of “I hate conservatives” clarity find a .pdf of effective tax rates. A Conversation about brackets is pointless.
That’s the problem with conservatives, no matter how educated I may be, you say I don’t understand it unless I agree with you.
Sorry just calling it like I see it.
No offense, but that’s a pretty clear cop-out.
So is saying, “You need to read more.” As if I don’t read, or concepts are somehow beyond my comprehension even though making sense of bullshit is one of the strong suits of my degree. Or, I need to read a novel in order to understand why Reaganomics are soo cool. I grew up under Reagan, as a little kid I thought he was the shit. I’m talking about a sweep of history of about 70 years, heck we can go back further if you want. Cop out? Nah. Just a different perspective. This place seems to need different perspectives, not a bunch of like minded people convincing and justifying your own beliefs, lamenting together in defeat… It’s pathetic!

FTR, I know NOTHING about this topic, but it seems pretty clear that he put the ball in your court, and you took it and went home.

Again, I speak of a sweep of history and you want to change the subject and talk about one particular year. As if taking care of loopholes is going to take care of the problem when half of the Corporations/ people (Corporations who are people) have been paying politicians and lawyers off to create loopholes for the very wealthy, longer than you or I have been around. How about we go back to historic conservative tax rates, AND take care of loopholes, tax shelters etc? I mean, no point in increasing taxes on the wealthy if they are going to have the loopholes to pay 14.1% anyhow, so yeah I agree with him on that ![]()

You could simply remind him of how bad a job he did predicting the battleground states, or point out that his precious Gallup and Rasmussen polls were wrong, or remind him that Nate Silver was right. Any of these will send him into an absolute tizzy… After which he will call you sonny or little man and tell you to run along.

You get away with that a lot around here and not many call you on it.

jnd, you’ve proven yourself far better at personal attacks than defending the far left. But then again who can really defend the far left? I did predict the election wrong I think I followed my heart instead of my head. But I did get a lot of other things correct, like each debate’s outcome and other things. Funny you don’t mention those things though.
Also, I never bragged about “running anyone off” and as far as I know I never have done that. If there were no light weights like you around then who would the conservatives have to taunt? I want you to stay. As a matter of fact I wish there were more liberal’s just like you around.
I’ll tell you why many have left. For starters your philosophy of government doesn’t work. It’s been tried almost exclusively in California and other liberal states for decades and look at the trouble that they’re in. Unless you are claiming that California, as the mecca of liberal government, is actually working. Nooooo…you’re not saying that are you?
Around here when pushed lefty’s like yourself usually run away not because of me or any other conservative, but because in the end their arguments are weak, like you. And I think that’s a shame. The more varied opinions that there are the better the debate. But if I had to try to support higher taxes and larger government in this weak recovery I’d probably run away and hide too like many of your peers have done.
Anyway, you should stick exclusively to personal attacks you are way better at them than trying to defend the fringe left.
Thanks for the laugh!
Severiano wrote:<<< lamenting together in defeat… It’s pathetic!
I’m not lamenting anything and can never be defeated. My future does not depend on any nation of sinful men or a pathetic political party that where it really matters is not much better than the other. I’m rejoicing that the God I serve is showing Himself always faithful to His Word AND his true church bride in bringing low those who mock His name and scorn His blessing.
It will soon actually cost people something real and significant to call themselves by the name of Jesus in this country. Then we’ll see who’s who. A great purifying work wherein the refiner’s fire of oppression and eventual persecution will burn off the dross of those who honor Him, not even really with their lips anymore, but whose hearts are far from Him.
I’m reminded of a story (loosely told here) of a congregation of believers in another part of the world where being a Christian was very strongly frowned upon and on a particularly bad day might even get you killed. Two armed soldiers burst through the door of the building where they were gathered. They told the people that they would kill whoever did not renounce this Jesus and leave, never to return. They went through the group allowing many to go. The ones who were left sang praises to their Lord in preparation for meeting Him face to face.
The soldiers put down their weapons and told the people that they had risked their livelihood, their careers and the lives of themselves and their families for their beloved Jesus. They acknowledged that their days were very probably numbered because of their now open declaration of saving faith in Christ their Lord and Savior and said they wanted to spend them worshiping with other believers, but would not do it in a group polluted with shallow hypocrites who knew not their Lord nor the power of his blood.
We are not there, but it will take far less to weed out the chaff over here where any bible butchering, foul mouthed, immoral, post modernist heretic, who wouldn’t know the real Jesus if He walked up and kissed them in the face, is allowed to call themselves a Christian because nobody’s supposed to judge. Where once mighty denominations who preached the gospel in purity and truth are now embracing evolution and abortion, it’s natural consequence, while calling the abominable sin of homosexuality a life choice and even ordaining them to so called “ministry”.
Yes. I rejoice that we are finally moving off the fence as a nation and openly embracing the debauched path we long ago started down AND the inevitable financial collapse it will bring with it. I can’t wait. It will be a time when untold multitudes will finally and mercifully stop their pretense of Christianity and many others of the elect of the Father will be finally redeemed in the Son and filled the Holy Spirit.
HAHA!! Lamenting he says LOL!! There has never been a better time to be a Christian than now in what’s left of the United States. The church, while certainly in for a serious downsizing, WILL be the purest ever here. My citizenship is not of this world and my treasure is in heaven. Compounding daily as I serve Him with everything I am and everything I have. Which though it ain’t much. IS everything. I fear NOTHING and NOBODY.
I sleep like a baby and awaken with a smile on my face wondering what new move of the Lord I’ll see today as He vindicates His name, executing His judgement upon a blasphemous nation that once said they honored it. I am drawing ever closer to learning the purpose for which I was put on this earth and adopted into the family of the living God.
As with every one of His sons, He has something for me to do for Him. My entire life has been training for that purpose. It may be a 20 year work or a five minute conversation with one person. I don’t now. I DO know that when it’s done, then it will be time for me to die. Ya know what’s saddest of all? Most people will read this post as the unhinged mutterings of a wild eyed religious lunatic who should be looked after lest he possibly harm himself.
A self righteous self deluded pharisee who fancies himself better than others. I declare to you a most emphatic nay. I am just a Christian who loves Jesus. This is what it looks like. The church used to know that. She doesn’t any more and so no longer being the salt and light as she has been commanded, her preserving and illuminating power is all but gone. We all are and will continue to be witnesses of the tragic result. A result that is not shocking or perplexing to anybody who actually takes their bible seriously.
