My fiancé made me watch this movie with her a few months ago. I was too young to remember when this happened so idk how much of the movie was just Hollywood vs. what actually happened. But if the real life event was anything like the movie then this was one of the stupidest crimes in history, perpetrated by some of the stupidest people to ever walk the earth lol

Yeah saw this on my you tube feed yesterday… Find it funny as hell how quick Alpha backed pedaled. Because about a year ago give or take he posted a video where he ranted how he was not a powerlifter and blah , blah …blah. All because I guess some other competitive lifters had called him out regarding him doing a meet.
I just find the whole think entertaining as hell…. Two mediocre guys whom have done jack and shit, with each believing they are John Holmes engaged in nothing more than a dick measuring contest on you tube.
Now I will give him credit that he had gotten off his ass and did some form of actual competition. But that as far as it goes, because for a guy whom bases a large amount of his stuff is strength related and acts like he is such an expert. His 320 bench is not special regardless of his body weight. The reason I say this is because on a whim I looked at the current state records of the two tested Feds that I am most familiar with it really puts things into light. The reality is in the unequipped division same weight class in both Feds the state record is way higher and one was even established by a guy doing a full meet. With each of these Feds having a National record being 80lbs plus over his 320. It is going to be interesting to see how much he’s going to milk the hell out of his “record”. From what I can tell his fan boys are already hugging on them nuts even harder now.

In alphadestiny’s defense, he’s a junior, meaning he’s under 23 I think. Something so dumb about this situation it cracked me up was Jason Blaha said something along the lines of “he can’t bench 315, and he never will” and challenged him to do it and then he did it and Jason said the video wasn’t sufficient evidence loooooool. At least Alex doing this meet shut that guy up:joy:

I think people would give him an easier time if he just went by Alex… alpha-destiny is just the all around dumbest and most irritating thing I think I’ve ever heard anyone call themselves.

Are our standards so low that there’s something noteworthy about a 319 bench? WTF is that? I benched 385 in my first meet in the 181 class, and that barely made the top 50 on PL watch THAT YEAR. So ridiculous.
Also, why would blaha be dumb enough to say that anyone, much less a guy who lifts weights, would never, ever bench 3 plates? I guess that’s a rhetorical question, lol. He’s dumb as a rock.

For the record yes pretty much the strength standard for his viewing fan base is that low. Their definition of a strong bench is allot different than mine. They are dreaming of the day of benching 315x1 While I would like to hit it for a set of 20.

Im a fan of Alpha Destiny. I think he has great content, a really good training ideology, and found something that he likes that also works for him.
However, his earlier stuff is crap and I found myself unsubscribing when I stumbled upon his dating/fashion advice videos. But his new stuff is great, and I think he has as much validity as other fitness youtubers.
I don’t think he’s some world class athlete or a mastermind guru over his 320 bench (in bench only on top of that), but I think it’s cool that he put himself in a sterile competition environment after all this time, and I’ve always wanted to see this. I still think it’s stupid that he tried to give Johnny Candito bench advice.

He’s a guy with a solid physique he doesn’t need [insert achievement here] when his audience are regular gym goers who just want to build good physiques.
He’s on a massive platform that allows him to improve the way thousands of people work out. For that, I’d call him a better man than those posting vitriol above.

I feel the need to clarify pathetic is too strong of a word. More so i should say sad…in reality its not his fan base that is too blame. from the comments I read they have been so forced fed all the Natty talk on you tube that they cant believe they can achieve anything without using gear. So you have a situation where either 1. they end up not even trying and fall short from lack of belief. 2. they jump into using gear.

I agree …its past due that he did. its goes a long way in actually making him credible in certain respects.
Wasnt aware of that…yeah maybe not the smartest thing all things considered. He tends too over reach at times. Case in point I found is, I dont feel he has a full grasp of the Westside method as much as he thinks he does.

I think he took the video down, but it was a whole video dedicated to why Johnny Canditos bench stalled (I think it was like 350 at the time).

I think to qualify as a ‘hater’, there has to be some sort of envy involved, right? Like, I would have to be envious of either his social status, his strength, and/or his appearance to be envious of him. Since I make more money than he does, I’m stronger, and I’m prettier than he is (and my beard is better), none of those things seem to be the case.
Perhaps it’s possible for the posters on here to just not like the dude, without qualifying as ‘haters’?
