Serious question. Is English your first language?
I was just thinking the same thing. This thread is ridiculously there is obviously a disconnect somewhere.
Nobody thinks 5/3/1 is perfect and nobody is offended.
This is your interpretation of the events and it is what you’ve had to make up for all this to hold together in your brain - a good clue that this is happening is you’ve had to develop the ability to read people’s inner thoughts for things to make sense.
A recap of the lunacy:
- Taking a program aimed at athletic performance and judging it as a bodybuilding program.
- When this was pointed out, instead of saying “my mistake, it’s wrong to call a fish an idiot for not being able to climb a tree” it went full potato mode.
- The author says Jack Shit is for time constrained folks and even then other options are given first. A sensible interpretation here would be Jack Shit is better than nothing. An assclown interpretation is to say that is the base and most popular program lol
- Ignoring this, you posted numerous links supporting your claim that Jack Shit is the way because Google said so.
- You then chose to ignore that Google is about a good a way to choose an appropriate program as it is a way to choose a wife. When told told go the authority (Jim Wendler) you continued to argur this bizarre line.
- To make things more crazy, ALL the friggin links had some form of assistance and/or supplementary work and were not Jack Shit.
- A minor detail as far as you were concerned as now people are just assholes for not seeing the truth lol
To add a comic twist, the guy you posted originally criticising 5/3/1 as a powerlifting program (for which there is a specialised version, and he didn’t critique that one) has spent 18 months away from 5/3/1, given up ALL strongman training, put on 40lbs and for all that, managed a 88lbs PR (“optimal”)
I go back to my original statement, everyone believes they have “facts” on their side.
This has been truly terrible lol
Is it worthy?
Ehhh… Not really.
God no, it’s not a funny thread, it’s repetitive and lacklustre. The arms thread that started this shit was pretty funny though.
I’m not arguing with you. I understood the intent behind the words you used in your posts, which is why I defined the meaning of "fact and “proof” for you. You are using words out of context. This is why you are having so much trouble communicating with people here.
Oddly enough… id like to see the young man stick around.
Me too. He has put in some good work in the gym and the classroom. Thats a good combination.
I will be sticking around. I meant I will be leaving this topic. I will actually be starting a thread for my training when my next cycle starts in roughly 2 weeks.
I will be talking about the training in general and why I do it all.
@SkyzykS
Actually, I am. His baseball analogy was dreadful and horribly inaccurate.
Exactly , that is why I am giving him a free pass and not ripping into him unlike some other new ones we get in here at times that haven’t earned it.
Good I am actually glad … Very interested in watching your progress in the gym and school and see how your view point evolves regarding training over time.
Hi OP. Didn’t have the patience for all the back and forth in this thread. The one thing I remembered from one of Jim’s books is he specifically points out that “not doing jack shit” isn’t really a program… but something you should do when pressed for time or if you’re feeling ill. Get your strength sets in and go home. Makes sense.
You are thinking way too much about all this though. Especially since everyone adapts differently to different workloads. Just because it takes a late career advanced bodybuilder 40 sets per bodypart/week to progress doesn’t mean that’s what a newbie or weekend warrior needs to do. Minimum effective dose and all that.
Great physique btw.
I like Chipotle.
Really though, the base of Chipotle is just a tortilla. Not very good at all IMO.
Wow, I totally missed the joke at first, derp.
This was a beautiful post in a train wreck of a thread. Thank you
