How do you know when people get banned? Is there like a public service announcement forum that I missed? ![]()
When bigconan got banned, the t-mod interrupted his typing and said so.
Well, I never really posted a lot, but I just got tired of dealing with posters who mistake bombast for analysis. The off-topic forum has gotten way over the top – there’s no dialogue, just over-simplification, ranting, and insults – I don’t know why folks waste their time going back and forth on issues when they can’t even agree on what the facts are. I got tired of endless repetition of the same rants. It has lost its amusement value for the most part.
As far as the training forums, I can only think of a couple of instances when I have posted training questions where I really got the kind of answers I could use. Most of the people I found helpful (like Demo Dick and Kelly Bagget) don’t post anymore, at least not much, anyway. (No disrespect to those few who still do, like ~Karma~ and Patricia, who tried to help me with a program for Mrs. P.) In addition, I don’t have much to add to most of the training questions that come up now. So I pop in occasionally and look to see what is going on.
I realize that some of you use these forums as a support group for various programs that you are using, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but that also limits the number of people who are interested in any given thread. For example, I’m glad that Nate Dogg has gotten such good results with Renegade Training, but since I’m not using it, the minutia of the program just don’t interest me – I skip over that stuff.
Last, I’ve got other things to do that are far more important than these forums – spending time with Mrs. P, raising (and training!)three kids, watching soccer games, delivering a kid to college (an amazing ultra-T-woman who is starting at the toughest, most physically challenging, military college in the US – VMI – in less than three weeks), working, working out, taking care of our new dog (a Tibetan mastiff – an awesome breed), generally having a life.
I gotta say, though, that in at least one respect, there has been a sea-change here – a positive one. If you compare the responses that ~Karma~ got when she first posted her picture in the Photo forum to the responses to the pictures that have gone up in the “Piece of Ass” thread you see an amazing difference in attitude. (And that’s a good thing.) Well, anyway, I’m out of here for now.

People have needs. People go where their needs are met. People’s needs change. People, again, go where their needs are met.
Simple.
Most of the people on our “Dearly Departed” list spent the majority of their time (at least, what my faulty memory considers the majority - I may be wrong or simply not have known them) on the Off Topic Forum.
If someone has a particular interest in something other than strict training, just say politics since it’s an easy target, and they have an insatiable need to grind that ax, what do you suppose would happen if NO ONE responded to their political posts? Hhmm…
If someone was looking for highbrow socio-economic commentary on the state of a oh, say Chihuahuas in France, and it seemed no one was game to discuss it in the manner to which they were accustomed, what do you suppose would happen?
If someone had a very rigorous code of morals and/or was the absolute judge of what was “valuable” posting versus what was trash posting, and the OT forum was simply dense with “valuable” information and as morally pristine as a clear running mountain stream, and then in their inestimable opinion became the vulgar filth that is our “valueless” OT forum now, where they had to “wade” through corrupted, immoral, choked with repeats and crap posts, what do you suppose would happen?
People have needs. They come here and the needs are met. For one of any bazillion of reason, those needs no longer get met. They leave. And as Shugs said, more keep coming. You know what, they’ll leave one day too.
All together now sing “It’s the circle of liiiiiife… It’s the wheel of fortune…”
Nephorm, you did indeed miss the message that he was banned.

Ditto on what Karma said.
It’s just like bars or any social spot. Sit there long enough, and you’ll see established tribes and other come-and-go movements of various lifespan.
We’re more concentrated (in the target market / niche sense) though.
Porkchop! Hey! I’ve wondered how Mrs. P was doing. I understand where you’re coming from. And yes, isn’t it a world of difference between that fist photo foray and the second? And there was a hell of a lot more to be in uproar over, too. Sounds like things are going well with you and the 'chopetts…glad to hear that.
Yeah, I miss Mufasa and Kenny Stark.
I wonder why they left…

Goldberg, I read T-Mag forums every day but don’t post anymore. The main reason is that T-Mag changed quite a bit over the past few years. Topics seem to be a bit… boring.
I also read some other weightlifting boards so it does not leave me with enough time to write on the T-Mag forums. But I post my progress pics from time to time. Anyway, I have been following your progress and plan to go your, powerlifting route. Bodybuilding does not do it for me anymore. I might however switch back to bb routine from time to time to keep the fat in check.
Anyway, it has more to do with nutrition than training…
I rarely post but I’ve been around for a long time. I didn’t do much with the old forum because there was just too much crap to wade through. Now I usually read the training and nutrition section daily and I’ve posted there when I’ve had questions. I haven’t had much to contribute to any threads because other t-folk usually beat me to it or I just have limited knowledge of the subject. I recently (last two weeks) started reading the OT and photos sections and have enjoyed them. There seems to be a lot of people encouraging others where they weren’t before. Hopefully I’ll be posting a lot more on some of these OT and Photos threads.
