Why Dislike Relative Strength?

I think we’ve all had enough of those.

the theoritcal 240 lb doesn’t necessarily eat more, other than to maintain perhaps. but he is probably on a taller frame that can support more muscle. you see a whole lot more 6 foot and up men weigh 240+ than you do 5’5 and under that way that much, don’t you?

Yes, but I am sure you’ll get more.

I like your new avatar. The other one was too angry.

It makes sense that this was posted by someone who joined the site this month because it has been beaten into the ground repeatedly on a weekly basis for the past two years or so that I have been a member here.

I think a lot of this is just bullshitting and nitpicking over specifics. I dont care how big the person picking it up is, but 700 lbs is 700 lbs. Thats whats impressive to me. If a small guy can train with inhuman poundages, then more power to them, but Im not interested in being small and lifting heavy weights, Im interested in lifting heavy weights in order to avoid being small.

CT, its good to see you posting more around the boards lately. Always good to see experienced guys like yourself and the Professor around.

I don’t see why X isn’t admin personally…have they asked if you wanted to X? Your title could be something like “forum police”.

It is less impressive because realitive strength is not perfect it will be different for everyone but we know it just will not work out that if you doubled the size of that guy that his strength would be in the same ratio as it was. The weight ratios are not the same for people of different sizes it’s like an ant theoretically lifting a car if the ant was 20 pounds but it just doesn’t work out that way.

I am still impressed by both types of strength but if someone is heavier with the same realative strength they are doing something more difficult than the little guy and more weight moved impresses everyone more. And it isn’t just big guys who beleive this I am 5’2" ish. But I want both types of strength the visual strength ct mentions and realative if you are small and this really bothers you might want to get into metal bending arm wrestling or other lower arm stuff because your height and weight will not have much of a effect on you. Sorry hadn’t read past the first post when I typed this CT already gave a better explanation than me.
