It is a proven fact that athletes and promoters would both rather have entertaining and safer fights (protect their investment.) In professional wrestling, the wrestlers originally began working fights in order to take strain of off one another. According to Thesz, they would split the winners fee between two wrestlers rather than have a brutal match for the purse. This allowed them to recuperate and put on a better show.
In the case of mma, it would be much easier to work than pro-wrestling. For one, you have much fewer matches (less wear and tear.) Secondly, it’s not unreasonable that a trained fighter could take quite a concussive beating for show. Staged doesn’t mean fake. Watch some shoot style wrestling. Hell, think about how little money it took for Mick Foley to completely destroy his body.
In fact, rather than honorable, it is plain stupid to not stage the fights. Which I’m sure that the promoters just let the no name guys beat the hell out of one another anyway (they can’t draw money, but violence can.)

Dude, go an play softball or something and leave fighting alone. What the hell is wrong with you???
Please read my comments under the " can a MMA heavyweight whip 6 ninja’s asses thread". What the hell? Are you suggesting that professional fighters fake fights?
I was going to write up a full, detailed, well thought out fisking of why this is 100% wrong.
Then I had an acute attack of sanity.
I’ll just leave it at this: if you really think this would work, try your hand at being a “fixed” fight promoter. See if you get any fighters without organized crime helping you out.
I’m sure a lot of it is already being worked. My point is that it ought to be. It’s more honorable for fighters to know their skills and only share the true limits of their prowess with other fighters. Why should everybody with a TV get know who is the legitimate best (not that MMA matchmaking makes any since anyway)?

Dude, shut up and go away. This is one of the few forums on this site where its ALWAYS the same handful of guys posting and trolling stuff like this never gets far or really pissed anyone off.
Now… if we threw a grolar bear in the octagon… i JUST might watch that shitty sport, even if it was fixed.

here are some obvious works but only true MMA insider fans can deduce them
Ken Shamrock- vs Kasushi Sakuraba- are we really supposed to belive late 30’s Sakuraba
has all this new striking prowess after one 4 week training camp with Chute Box
Hong Man Choi vs Fedor-
Fedor has like a huge ass gut.
and Hong man Choi is a specimen.
I not sure what kind of specimen - but a specimen just the same
dude is Jacked .
Chael Sonnen- Id say 8 or so of those submission losses are worked-
do you really think babalu could do it - to the american legend that sonnen is
this is all so he can reamatch Silva and win.
BJ Penn Vs Hughes 3 clearly a work- anyone can see that - K1 Hughes
has a much better chin.
clearly all of the Brock fights that he lost where works.
no one can deny his athletic abilities- and right now he is cleaning shop in WWE-
so you KNOW those ufc fights where a work.
