Why Can't I Gain Muscle?

Post a picture. I am tired of hearing about how perfect your entire routine and diet is. If it was perfect, you would be making progress.

Why not post up your diet and your routine? Maybe there could be some minor tweaks someone on here might be able to make that would help.

well whatever you are doing isnt working, i would really try to switch things up. for example, i would try working a muscle once every 10-12 days, maybe recovery is a real problem for you. i would try maybe a boris sheiko routine, yes its geared toward powerlifting but it will put mass on you, it will have you working a muscle 5-6 times a week(to show something on the other side of the spectrum). i would try eating ALOT of carbs. or maybe try eating ALOT of fat. those are jsut a couple ideas of things you probly have not tryed. you just have to screw around and find out what your body needs to put on mass and strength.

I think you could be right - it’s just the frustration of failing, re-assesing everything, re-adjusting diet/training and going again, only to fail again - that cycle is just an ongoing thing. the frustration is eating me up and it doesnt help with idiots belittling me and being patronsing and then telling me that my diet is poor. Ive trained with my bro and his mates and it’s sickening seeing them get so big while Im still the same size. my bro is huge and he asks me for advice on diet and training because he knows that I spend so much time reading about training routines, he asks me to give him a routine every now and then and his usual reponse is “I like it, gained well” though occasionally he says “nah, that routine wasnt as good as the last one”

See I think it might be best for you to focus on something else in your life and stop putting all your energies into lifting. Develop your other interests (this might also take some work as you have only cared about lifting for the past 6 years) and see how that goes. You can still lift and eat correctly, just stop making it your number one goal in life.

I don’t want you to give up or anything, just try something else for awhile.

Now he’s going to go and inflate his numbers of fitday. Every fucking thread I see about someone who can’t gain weight, they refuse to do any posting on their diet. Its always “clean”, “Purfect” rated 100% top notch by Fuzzy McCunt, etc, but never posted.

Ok, i am sorry but i dont believe your stories.

If you actually made it to 180lbs for the first time in your life, why in hell would you cut?

Then… not only did you cut, you cut right down to ALMOST where you started.

Im sorry bro, your full of shit and you dont know how to train.

Go eat, get back up to 180, MAINTAIN that 180 for a few months while it leans out, rinse and repeat.

Like i said in my previous posts, sounds to me like your afraid of any wieght gain, you cut at 180 when you just fuggin got there.
OMG a whole 20 pounds MAX.

Here is my suggestion.
A- Start a new thread called “im gonna gain” and post your photo and current diet/food log.
B- Post your training log.

Wait a month, evaluate the numbers, repost and listen to the advice.

It sounds to me like you are not comfortable gaining wieght needed to bulk. It also sounds to me like you train to hard.
It also sounds to me like you are focusing far to much on this shit.

Post a new thread, because you destroyed this perfectly good one.

Post pictures before and after (at least a months apart).

Post a weeks work of diet log, already calculated. Nobody is going to calculate that shit up.

Post a months worth of workout routines.

And last but not least, post them all IN ANOTHER THREAD!

This way your need will not be lost in the shuffle.

I seriously doubt he consumes 5k clean.
Wannabebig
Post your food log and training log.

Im 28 years old, been training 6 years, I weigh 165lbs, I do use gear and yes maybe I should have waited but when you’re desperate to gain musle then you’ll do anything to get it.
[/quote]

Ok, another stupid part of this equation.
If your on “gear”, you should be increasing the amount of calories your already taking in. This means that if you are already eating heavy (who knows how many calories) you should be surpasing that by 1 or 2k a day.

Secondly, maybe your fat gains you noticed was water retention/bloating from the gear. I know guys that can gain 10 lbs from water in 2 days when they carb up on gear. Right on their gut, but its gone when there diet straightens out.

The more i look at your story, the more it sounds like you try to hard and threw too much shit at this equation. Time to throw in the towel and start from scratch.
Like my other post, make a new thread. Get off the gear (since its not working for you anyway).
And lets start from the beginning.

Oh and I spelled perfect like that for a reason. Don’t send me your PMs telling me I can’t spell.

I think I figured it out! And it’s so simple.

You were born a woman.
Am I right?

how old are you? 10? run along now, mummy is calling you.

So it’s not a brainteaser? Dang.

Let’s paraphrase the last five or so pages:

I don’t know dude. Maybe you are the ONE guy who can’t gain muscle. Maybe you are the most fantastic fat-making machine ever created by evolution. That still doesn’t excuse the fact that you hi-jacked a fun thread for your own little pity party.

I can’t believe this hasn’t been said yet…

TSB

Wannabe, it sounds to me like you may have an absorption problem. Often it’s not what you eat, it’s what you’re absorbing. If you’re going to have tests run, I’d start with that rather than the other stuff you’ve mentioned.

Also, how tall are you?

To all of you who are telling him that he can’t possibly be for real, I wonder how many of you have had much real experience with personal training? I don’t mean that you trained your girlfriend that one time, I mean you have at least three years of doing it consistently under your belt, on a more or less full-time basis. My guess is that not many of you do. If you did, you wouldn’t be saying the things you are.

I think pat (I hope he doesn’t mind me calling him that) is on the right track wannabebig. You need to do something drastically different than what you’re doing now.

You skip right over the psychological issues and assume this is an absorption problem?

Or skip over his use of gear?

This kids has so many issues with his training and way of thought, i dont think anyone will straiten him out.
