I guess I could just respond to your posts in my log to check in on you and you’ll get a message?
Today… I miss deadlifting and stuff. I’m trying to get into my workouts, but I’m not connecting with them.Trying to just feel and appreciate the happiness that I can get out there and do something.
Push press
w/ superset KB around-the-worlds
Assit Dips
w/ superset right leg push down
Leg press - hmm, well I tried but the right hip didn’t like it, but that’s ok, I don’t like these contraptions.
Leg extension
Arnie bicep curl presses
KB press (bell behind)
Sure. That works. Or do an @Powerpuff, and I’ll see it. Thanks.
I feel for ya. The chronic injuries/ pain in certain movements has to be a bummer.
I guess it’s a matter of finding what you CAN really enjoy. Maybe time to figure out what you can add. Something new, even if it’s rep goals on a machine, or something completely different. Like yoga.
I think we all hit those type of lifting ruts at times. Nice work pushing forward through it.
Kind of like a bat-signal.
Actually I took on-board your advice about taking the time to try something new. The last 2 years I’ve been less vigilant about stuff. Nothing serious, so I’m looking into some self-defense classes, maybe specifically for women. I doubt they have an ‘injured shoulder-rib-hips’ women niche but we’ll see.
oops forgot to log Sat workout
Asst pull up w/ hold at top
Tri rope pull down
Wide BB rows
rope pull down machine
leg curls

Everything is a bit hurty today. I’m dying to try some Rolfing, but it seems so expensive. I’m getting a complimentary session with martial arts teacher, for women’s self-defense.
We’re going away for a couple of days. Might be able to pop in another gym while gone.
Although I just popped a rib again on Monday, Chiro put it back in place but still hurts for awhile. Need to feel tip top shape for my trial self defense lesson. Ass still kind of hurty too.
My glute is feeling better, I’ve been sick so was in bed most of the time not doing anything.
Went to my first self-defense session. Got really sweaty. She started me on punching, which was ok, didn’t feel too uncoordinated. But since that’s not really a good way for a beginner to defend themselves we worked on using the heal of my hand, striking the nose, chin, and solar plex. And some groin kicks (sorry guys). Also how to kick while on the ground. The ground kicks were a little hard as I really needed my glutes to be strong, so once they are all better it’ll be lots and lots of hip thrusts for me. I can see needing lots of repetition though for it to be second nature and to get my coordination in order.
Awww… too bad about the sick part, but way to go on learning how to whoop ass!
Thanks. Well for the moment it’s more like ‘flop’ ass. But as they say, never too late to teach an old dog new tricks. Speaking of old, my shoulder is killing me now, though.
This is an interesting tip too, especially for us small boned ladies. I like the hit and then run tip.
Oy vey. Well, the glute ribs & shoulder are knitting together while life is unraveling for me. Can’t afford the gym anymore, especially since I’ve signed up for some self-defense sessions. And still never quite felt at home in this new gym, I know it takes time but still. Going to need to find a cheaper gym that has a bar and bumper plates.
So today wasn’t feeling great, but went to the session anyway. We talked about situational awareness, how to use reflections and peripheral vision, for scanning. Always have a hand free, etc etc. It was a lot to take in actually.
We did some TRX & YLT’s for strengthening my shoulder. And I learned how to block with the bone side of my forearm, while doing what she called “hollowing”, I’m not sure if that is her term or a technical term. Also how to get up really quickly, doing what she called a T-prong move, IDK. We did it on both sides but I kept messing up on the left side, so need to practice that.
Awww… hope things get better for you soon. Glad to hear your body is healing. Sounds like you are going to be a bad ass soon. You’ll be logging over in the combat thread before long.
Oof Happy New Year, I think. Had an ‘interesting’ couple of months. Got sick 3 separate times, one of the worst flus I’ve had in a long time. Hip/glute is still at me. It was doing better before I had to take some very long haul flights, and the rush of Xmas.
Anyway, I got myself a nice package of Metabolic drive, finding it hard to get enough protein without. And just doing the V Diet beginners workout, using light weights. Went to self-defense class last week, that’s about all I’ve been able to really do.
Today
(few sets adding up to 40 reps ea)
18kg KB Squats
45’s rest
9kg KB twisty rows
45’s rest
only 10 - close grip DB presses (ran out of time in gym)
There you are! I was getting worried. Glad you are back at it.
Happy New Year.
Glad you are back in the gym and hopefully fully recovered from the flu.
Thank you, yeah I was getting worried about myself again too. I’ve actually tried to write in yours’ and other’s logs over the last few weeks but I got too tired to even think what to type.
I would get confused as to whose log I was reading half the time ![]()
Awwww… glad you are feeling better.
Ok not much to report. Ribs are acting up again. I did a Feldenkrais and Gentle yoga class the last 2 days. My right glute is sore, I have DOMS but it might also be a bit aggravated again too. I get some ART tomorrow.
