3 more days before the moving thing is over. Cleaning up kitchen area so we ordered pizza tonight and now I can’t breathe. Me and the dough just don’t get along.
I was looking at the fish, eggs & greens diet for a month to help bring down inflammation. Also, we’ll have a bbq, a proper bbq, I wonder how practical it is for me to bbq all dinners. But I’m wondering if bbq-ing food adds inflammation???
Thinking about lifting at nights again too, now that I’ll have a gym 3 min walk from the new house. Was always the best time to lift for me. After I get home eat loads of food, hot shower and fall asleep like a baby.
Ugh finally feeling better after the move, why does everything happen at the same time. Right glute still bugging me, I went for a long hilly walk today and just kept pinching me. I thought the glute would start to feel better after a little break of lifting AND cycling with stretching. But walking other than that, the hills felt like nothing so at least I have some cardio fitness.
Trying to get settled in, you know how it goes…
I checked out the new gym, it is waay too small. The sister gym I belonged to was a mansion in comparison. The pictures looked like there were 4 squat racks, but there are only 2 bunched up together in the corner and it was busy during non-busy hours. I happen to just look in at another gym which was almost the same but a lot cheaper. It’s through the ‘woods’ though, but only a 7 min cycle going downhill, coming up hill would be “interesting”.
Bah went to the gym, did empty bar FS and 95 lbs DLs and it hurts the hip/glute. It’s like it has gotten worse, I thought laying off of it would help a little, but I guess moving and moving furniture isn’t exactly laying off, not to mention the hill walks.
I sucked it up and after mucho research, I found a place that does ART nearby and that my insurance takes for 20 sessions. I LOVE my insurance!!!
Need to come up with other workouts, trying to get to know this new gym. Although I didn’t trust the weights, things felt lighter even though my hip was giving out.
Thanks. So I went, and it was interesting. Basically, he believes that the front part of my pelvis/hip flexors are so tight, that my glute and lower back try to overcompensate.
He put me on a mechanical table where it moved my lower body up and down, while he did the active release stuff on certain areas. That was interesting, but I wonder if just manually doing it would be better. IDK it seems like it was a lazy way of doing it. I know my body responds more to hands-on manipulation. But it did feel good and in some places, he was digging around, it was excruciating.
He gave me a modified bridge pose, bulgarian squats and for my ribs modified side planks. I’ll most likely look up some yoga moves for opening the front part of the body as well.
Ugh bad news these last few days. Relatives in hospitals, an old instructor of mine passed away with a young family. I know things go up and down. How does one balance complaining about little things with really bad/sad things happening.
Anyhoo did some upper body pressing stuff:
KB press (w/ bell behind wrist)
KB around the worlds
Push Press (about the most exciting thing I did)
Regular Press
I’m trying to get used to the gym, it is much smaller and more people. They have this rope pull down machine that looks interesting. Went on a glider to help open front of hips, it only pinched the glute area a little bit.
Starting to write down food ideas in a notebook, have not been eating well. Going to make low carb coconut & Oopsie breads today.
Ok so made that coconut bread, meh it held up well as far as it being bready texture. But the taste was a bit bleh. Think I’ll stick with the oopsie bread.
TODAY:
Push Press 4 x 5 - I have no idea on the weight I keep getting stuck with the v short bar
MP 2 x 10 - on the wussy little bar
KB press (w/ bell behind wrist)
KB around the worlds
Leg ext machine - 3 x 10
Try to do the exercises with some extra TUT & pausing to really feel the muscles. I’m not fond of the leg extension or curl, I feel constricted, but right now the only leg stuff I can really do.
Ah ok so the 5 ft bar supposedly weighs 35 lbs, IDK I don’t trust this new gym. But then again could just be my imagination. I stuck 40 lbs on it for push press, but didn’t feel like 75lbs??? Of course I would love to say maybe I’m just feeling a lot stronger but I don’t trust that either. And there isn’t any scales to go and weigh the bars.
Well ass still hurts. Bulgarians still hurts on one side.So stopping that shit.
But today I decided to find some lower body exercises that don’t hurt so much. Somewhat non-trad stuff but what works, works.
Band above knee bridges (but only coming off the ground 1 inch, hoping to work my way higher). But they actually make it feel better, doing them before BW squats.
Single leg push down (on the assist pull up/dip machine)
Some cycle machine that takes after the leg press (don’t ask me, but didn’t hurt the glute)
And then some upper body stuff:
Push press
w/ superset KB around-the-worlds
KB press (bell behind)
Arnie bicep curl presses
Curls supinated at top
w/ superset light shoulder work
This kind of thing drives me a little crazy. I keep thinking I’ll go weigh the Trap bar and find out it’s 20 pounds heavier than I think it is. Haha. It better not be lighter. That would just be sad.
I was just thinking of you the other day, trying to find your log to ask you how you are doing with the Oly stuff.
I was just watching a video of a meet my first coach was just in. I think his tendons are made of steel because he’s somewhat scrawny, side by side it looks like I have more mass than he does. I think the video I saw was a 115kg snatch. He does text book perfect snatches and he’s fast as lightening.
Cheers. Yes need to stay posting. It’s slowly getting better. This time in my ART session, he concentrated on digging around the front part of my pelvis, that seemed to loosen up the right glute a lot. I’m hoping to start front squatting next week, that would be nice, even with just an empty bar.
Oh, thanks! I had Chris delete all 3 of my old logs. A lot of my life in there that didn’t need to live forever on a BBing site! Haha! I have all my Stats elsewhere, in a private journal. Still training my Oly lifts but progress is slow. If something cool happens I will put up a YouTube link or something. Ha! I’m finally getting the hang of dropping under instead of pressing out my Jerk, but doing it consistently is another story!!
Glad to hear its going so well. The jerks are jerking along, I mean it’s not ‘normal’ to want to drop under a heavy weight. Instinct would be to push it away.
I understand ya about the logs, which is why I tend to not post too much about myself. I would love to share it with the people that I post to, but not the entire internet.
