Start eating - you’ve got six weeks to fatten up.
6 months of serious, consistent, meticulous dieting can yield unbelievable results, as @Gorillakiv83 mentioned, if you’ve got some muscle underneath the hood.
As far as the criteria, “best transformation” or “best finished product”, maybe we can do both? Obviously everyone has a different starting point. I think the competitive aspect is fun but shouldn’t be the primary objective, this is a great opportunity to get shredded with a huge community of motivators and friends. Even if you don’t “win”, you can still be in the best shape of your life, which is most definitely winning!
For those not used to a longer more consistent diet, here are some things that will probably take some getting used to (in no particular order):
-Feeling like you’re working your ass off only to see the scale not move, or weight even go up! If you know you’re executing your plan properly, there’s no way you’re gaining fat, it’s just water/food weight. Overall pattern of weight loss is key, which is why it’s important to log weight daily and see how you respond to your plan. Don’t expect miracles or significant day to day process. 1-2 lbs a week is a good goal, and honestly a consistent 2lbs of weight loss a week is pretty damn hard to do week-to-week.
-A slight loss in strength is natural and shouldn’t be feared. Obviously if you’re not used to this, you might have trouble with it at first, but remember, when you have a number one priority goal, that’s what matters most. Fat loss is the goal, so you need to be able to temporarily accept what comes with that, whatever it is.
-The consistency of diet and nutrition, day in and out. Be committed to your goal, if you have a day where you might need to wake up ass early to get that workout in or make food for the day, be pumped about it. It feels good to know you went the extra mile to accomplish your goal.
Just some random thoughts.
Thanks PP. And FlipCollar. When I started out on this journey, I had NO idea what I wanted. My first post on this forum was devastating. So, I am still determined to get stronger. June is still a ways away. Who knows what can happen in 7 months ![]()
I’m In as fuck. Prepare to be shit on
Exactly, for me the comp is simply an opportunity to be in a similar situation as multiple like-minded people to bounce ideas off of and work towards a similar end goal.
My goal, get down to the lowest bodyfat that I have ever achieved while learning about my body and what works for me through meticulous tracking.
I think this should probably be the plan for those involved in the competition. That way it could be quick for people to search for training logs associated with the competition. We could have a generic beginning or keyword to the title of member’s log and possibly even a generic first post. Perhaps a template where you would fill in current age, height, weight, BF, photos in particular poses, etc…just for consistency.
Just spit balling at this point, but I am looking forward to it! I’m doing a hell of a job bulking for my before picture ![]()
When is this supposed to start? You know, it’s the beginning of pumpkin pie season…
Sounds like Jan 1st was working well for most people who were interested. I’m happy with that date as all holiday festivities will have concluded.
I think Duce has already started. So, I don’t think the rules here are that strict…![]()
Obviously, the criterion should be, Who looks best for their age.
PS I just turned 74.
I agree! What do they say? It’s not the years, but the mileage…lol
Glad to see the excitement ramping up in here, I’m working on an announcement post that will go live Decebmer 1-ish depending on my work schedule. Thread will be “T-ransformation 2017 Contest Announcement” I think.
“Winning” will be done by community vote… and may even have a couple of different categories: Best Body Building physique (might even do Natty and … SuperNatty), Best Transformation.
Although dont forget, this is just for T-Nation Internet Points, so if you dont “win” its not like someone else walked away with money and you didnt. At its heart, its a community project to hyper-motivate us into the summer to get teh sick abz!
So if you dont win but end up with the best physique of your life… Well, I think you still won.
Wait! What? Sick abs? Nobody said anything about abs. ![]()
Whoa, whoa, whoa…what happened to this idea??

that’s absolutely not true. Honestly, going from 10 percent bodyfat to contest lean can be just as impressive, if not more impressive, then going from 25 to 10. Once you really start to hit a truly low bf percentage, amazing things happen. Plus that’s 6 months from now, you can also add appreciable muscle between now and then.
That prize went to the most well endowed contest promoter already ![]()
I think it’s probably best to do a trial run before we start involving cash. I’d hate for like 25 people to pay up and have something fall apart or have some unexpected thing happen. It’s going to be enough logistics with just organizing the whole thing I think. Maybe 2018 though!
I have the announcement for the contest all written up… Which forum gets more activity, Bodybuilding or Bigger, Stronger, Leaner? I am inclined to put it in BBing but if BSL gets 10x the traffic I will put it there. Or is there a way to have a single thread show up in both forums?
BSL is definitely the best choice. This thread does happen to be in Bodybuilding, but it’s really meant more for competitive bodybuilding/physique sports not “bodybuilding” the way people use the term more loosely.
That’s not a feature on this forum design.
@Chris_Colucci Are you or the other mods/Tnation opposed to having this stickied? Maybe a stickied thread in BBing and a thread that links to it in BSL??
Getting stickied is definitely a possibility.
One thread in the BSL forum, probably linking to this thread since it was the origin, will be plenty.
Okay, I’ll pull the trigger on the announcement thread in BSL, a thread linking to it in BB, and then on Jan 1st I’ll start the actual thread with the same protocol. Thanks
