Who Should Play the New Batman?

Put all his real life BS aside and Tom Cruise is a great actor who would do the role justice. Only problem is that he’s short. Batman is roughly 6’2".

Was watching Ghost Protocol last night and Cruise seems to have the perfect old but still in shape build that I would envision an aged Batman to have.
Watch Jack Reacher. He’s not as in shape as he used to be. And Jack Reacher in the book is written as being 6’5" or something. Didn’t stop them from casting him. Either way, I can’t see it at all because, same reason I hated him as Reacher, Cruise does great in action movies but he’s not a tough guy by any means. He can’t try to be intimidating without coming off laughable.

Look like Brolin is among those being considered by “inside sources”. So at least he’s on the radar.

I’m still partial to my first choice for an older Batman, Ray Stevenson. He’s 49 and supposedly around 6’3", he was great as The Punisher, and did the “anti-hero-type thing” again in Kill The Irishman. But he’s also in the Thor movies, so it’s most likely a no-go anyway.
Wouldn’t 6’3" be a little tall for the Batman character. And he is pretty freaking tall. He dwarfed everyone in King Arthur. Cant really have Batman matching Superman for size I don’t think. Which they may could figure that out, who knows.

I think in the right setting Ben Affleck could make a good Batman. What I mean is, he wouldn’t fit AT ALL in Nolans incarnation, but taken a different direction I think he’d be alright. The Town is a movie I watch pretty regularly, and he did the troubled, conflicted quasi-good guy badass really well. That’s basically what Bruce Wayne/Batman is. With that, I’ma have a hard time seeing anyone but Bale as Batman for a good while. He fucking nailed it.

Pretty good points. Batman needs to be terrifying.

Batman and Superman should be roughly the same height (according to geeky lore…)

Well Supes is supposed to be 6’5" and Bats 6’2". However, Cavil is only 6’1" so unfortunately we’re going to have to get a smaller guy to play Batman.

If it wasn’t for the hight restrictions Stevenson would be a great Bruce from TDKR. (which is what I assume Snyder is looking to go)

But I guess if I was doing fantasy casting without andy restrictions it would go like this,

Older Bats: Stevenson, Crowe, Brolin, and Jackman (in that order)

Younger Bats: There isn’t a single pussy looking beta sorry excuse for a male Hollywood actor that fits the mold of Bruce Wayne/Batman. One can easily find several faults in all of the names being thrown around.

Seriously all the young names being thrown around now are people I would pick for fucking Robin. Not even the Dick Grayson Robin, i’m talking the jason todd/damien wayne Robin.

Hugh Jackman is Wolverine. Your point is invalid.

But yeah, they’re never, ever going to go 100% true to the comics because it’s just impractical to meet all the criteria for a character and keep everyone happy and deliver a decent movie. So to get the best actor, they fudge the height, build, accent, etc. It’s probably not “right”, but it’s Hollywood.

Woah… Josh Brolin is only 5’10"- I definitely would have thought he was at least 6’. Still he’s easily the best for the job

So, I’m not aware of the Sman vs Bman thing, but I think we are missing the bigger picture:

But when the last movie came out, and we found out about Robin, I did some searching right off the bat and basically found out that the reason Bale wasn’t going forward with any more roles as Batman was because he had early on stated that he would refuse to be on-screen together with a ‘Robin’.

So, I’ve always thought the next Batman would be more about Robin(especially given joseph gordon levitt’s relatively recent success) and less about Batman, but who the fuck knows!

That 2" means a lot nate?

So I thought it was a joke, but Ben Afflack is going to play Bats

Not very happy with the news over here…

S

It’s true. How the hell could Ben pull off Batman? Why did they choose him? So sad. Stupid Batfleck.

I don’t even think I’m going to watch

If Justin Bieber does the Joker, I am in.

I really don’t know what to think.

I’m a new england guy, and I really like ben. I’ve liked the majority of his movies, I mean fuck I even kinda enjoyed daredevil. But for the life of me I can not see him as Bats…Or even Bruce Wayne.

I just don’t know where they’re going with this, and whats worse, He’s fucking 2 years older than Bale so after this movie its almost an automatic that they’re going to have to do yet another recast.

I’m telling you guys, I’ve said it once and Ill say it again. Nolan fucked DC hard and they just seem to be content with letting this snowball run it’s course down the hill.

Ben fucking aflick??? Awww fuck… this is bad, sad news. I like the guy and hes done some pretty good roles recently but jesuschristonaunicycle hes not fucking batman…I cant believe this shit. Id almost rather have Kilmer or Clooney come back!
Wasn’t Snyder reading our posts?!??!?!

I think Affleck is a good actor but Batman?! Come on now, lets get serious.

Yeah whatever…They picked an established comedic actor to play Batman 20+ years ago and he was
pretty good…I don’t think anything in the franchise can top the casting/acting ‘perfect storm’ of TDK anyway.

Haha, what a joke. Affleck is a decent actor, nowhere near as good as Bale. One of the better things they did when they Cast Bale for Batman Begins is that he wasn’t a huge success yet. Sure he did movies like American Psycho, but he wasn’t a huge name like Affleck is.

I really wish they had gone the route of an older, grittier Batman. Blah.
