These training sessions are looking more and more like torture every day!
Really really enjoyed that video man. So motivating. Priviledged to have this log here
been stupid busy all week finally got the chance to sit down and start making videos and logging my workouts here is wednesdays deadlift session. I wasn’t thrilled with the pulls due to the ick that is beltless pulling

had to run to class after that but It was a decent start to the deadlifts for this cycle.
I’ll have my last 2 workouts and video up tonight.
Workout number 2 is up faster than expected. Working on getting the kinks out of todays session and then I should be all caught up =)
weather is really creaking up my knees, and lifting with out a belt is pretty hellish but still had to put in the time.
Squats
(no belt)
135x5
225x4
315x5
405x4
455x3x2
505x2x2 (wan’t happy with the depth)
485x2x2 (depth was better)
Bench
(no feet)
185x5
225x4
255x3x2
295x2x6
Dips
BWx10x4
Had to go to a meeting so I was out of the gym for 2 hours
Front squats
135x3
225x4
285x3
325x3
knees started acting up, stupid cold weather
Weighted calf work for knee pain
I’m not a fan of the cold or what it does for my joints but it is what it is. Also the no belt squats and deads are frigging ridiculous… I may have to adjust some sets but I feel like sticking it out will really help get my strength up.
Last video should be posted in an hour or so…
Final video is up and I am caught up! woot!
Finally had a session this week where I left without feeling disappointed.
Double pause deads
135x2x3
225x3x2
315x3
405x3
495x3
545x2x4 (these suck but were should make my pull a lot better)
Bench (w/tyler grips)
(no feet)
185x6
215x6
235x6x4
235x10
Conventional deads
(no belt)
225x3
315x3
405x3x2
Supperset conv deads with super low box squats (idea from Chris della fave)
(405x3/225x3)x2
(405x3/315x3)x2
(405x3/225x3)x3
Core work
10x3
BW calves for knees
Felt awesome after this session I loved the speed pulls/speed squat combo, the 315 sets were not fast enough so I dropped the weight back to 225 but I see this combo being utilized a lot more in the next few weeks, I don’t get much speed work with sheiko so I feel like this may help me get past my start issues.
Thanks for the updates, training looking brutal as always!
What does your core work look like now? Do you still do those kickass windmills?
ah lookin great i can’t see some of the videos due WMG rights or something like that. paused deadlifts look like hell to me, gotta try it sometime!
hey would it be possible to just explain your training cycle/schedule right now? as in how you are planning your workouts, which parts are planned/unplanned?

All the beltless work is giving me plenty of core work but I still do some core work. I’ll be adding more back in after this block once I’ve added the belt back in.

oh well if it’s the squat one you’re not missing much anyway haha and the deads are absolute hell. The idea is to pause them at your stick point, and once you get more advanced and used to pausing the deads, you add in the second pause at another stick point…

I did an interview with a few weeks ago and I went into depth about it there here’s a link www.seriouspowerlifting.com/3116/male-interviews/interview-with-wabdl-world-record-holder-ben-rice

so cool
Didn’t feel amazing today heading in but managed a pretty solid session. Beltless squats still suck but I’m getting tougher and the bench is improving every session too.
Bench (w/tyler grips)
(no feet)
185x5
225x4
255x3x2
290x3x5
squats (focusing on depth)
(no belt)
135x3
225x3
315x5
365x4
425x3x2
485x2x3
405x3x2 (as low as I could physically go and a 2 second pause at the bottom)
Bench (round 2)
(no feet)
185x5
225x5
255x5x4
255x8
Core work
Felt good with the workout. I could have finished squats with 2 more sets of 485 but I felt like I would get more out of the lighter paused triples. All in all things are going well and I am getting stronger every session. I can’t wait to see where my strength is at after this restricted cycle when I put my feet back on the floor for benching and add a belt for my lower body lifts… should be pretty epic

oh boy
Awesome interview Ben! Very cool to read.
Really interesting article, thanks for posting!
Ben, I would just like to say that you are truly an inspiration. You motivate me to become as strong as I possibly can. Thank you for this log, your videos, and your awesome interview. Keep up the great work.
thank you all, I’m glad you guys liked it, another video and a write up from yesterday is on the way…
Didn’t have very much time before heading home for thanksgiving break so I cut down the rest periods and gutted through this workout… and it was a gut buster
