Couldn’t you just do some grip training?
When I needed to bring my grip up, after my work sets were done on deadlifts, I’d just take some weight off, pull a double overhand rep, and hold for time.

Start climbing
I love climbing, as soon as my son is old enough will definitely make it a family sport. At the moment Im using as much time as I can justify just to maintain things in the gym though, so an additional personal hobby isn’t on the table right now.
Was gonna say the same thing. IMO deadlifts don’t really build raw grip strength alone unless you’re doing them double over >80% of your training or something. I’ve always done super high rep shrugs on a slick to barely any knurling bar. Just start with 225-315 and add 10-15 pounds every week during a block of training for 6-12 weeks. I’ll shoot for 25-40 reps for the first set and try to beat the second set by a rep or two. I only do 2 sets at the end of my session and push them hard. Never had a grip issue and I feel the carryover is great because it’s usually the same diameter bar. Just my $.02.
Look up Josh Bryant’s video on grip training. Plate pinches and double overhand holds are two of the main things. He says that holds for much over 15 seconds aren’t really going to translate to better grip on max lifts since you aren’t holding a light weight for a long time, it’s a heavy weight for a short time. So start with 50% of your max for 2-3 sets of 15 sec., add weight each week, when it gets too heavy to hold for 15 sec. then start back a bit lighter.
Browner with 960. To be fair he missed 945 and 960 before this lift so the hook seems a bit inconsistent.

Shit the bed. I’ve never seen so much weight move so quickly
Looks like speed work…
Apparently this is his RPE 9+. He pulls the slack out quick where most sumo pullers stick a bit off the floor so we see speed but maybe the speed it goes after breaking is what he feels
Through the power hook grip Jamal Browner looks to pull bigger than ever in a meet. 2 weeks out

Ever notice that after every deadlift, Jamal does a very quick Stevie Wonder? Part of his routine. Literally every deadlift video on instagram. Followed by a quick right-hand thumb check.
ITS THE SOURCE OF HIS POWER.
I’ve also never seen so much weight move so fast. Good lord, he never looks like he struggles, even when he pulled over 1000 lbs.
dayyyumm thats fast moving deadlift
@guineapig disgustingly easy 745, quick Stevie Wonder, right-hand thumb check, gone. Definitely breaking a record.

This is the most ready I’ve ever seen him. He is still gonna need 900+. I’ve seen him drop a couple and have shifty lockouts on his top singles but luckily u get three attempts at a meet.
Ask and you shall receive.
Jamal pulls an easy breezy 440k / 970 in comp no straps

Beat me to it. Next up 461kg and beyond

And beyond indeed. He clearly had more there today. Though he may be like Maddox where he either gets its easy or just doesn’t get it.
His slack just gets pulled really well. So that snaps up fast at the start. The little bit of ROM afterwards is the speed we should be using to gauge
Seemed like there was plenty of speed to me
Just saw it was a 4th attempt though, so there’ll inevitably be some controversy over whether it counts. It won’t show on OpenPowerlifting though.
