I’ll put this one under the category of YUCK!

SAN JOSE, Calif. (March 23) - A woman’s meal at a Wendy’s restaurant brought a whole new meaning to the term “finger food.” The woman bit into a portion of a human finger while eating a bowl of chili Tuesday night at the San Jose restaurant, Santa Clara County health officials said Wednesday.

The woman, who asked officials not to identify her, immediately spit out the finger and warned other diners to stop eating, witnesses said.

“Initially she did put this object in her mouth and did bite down on it and wasn’t sure exactly what it was,” Santa Clara County Health Officer Dr. Martin Fenstersheib said at a news conference. “She’s doing OK. Initially she was a bit grossed out it was described to me, and vomited a number of times.”

Fenstersheib said the finger had been cooked at a high enough temperature to kill any viruses.

Officials said the fingertip was approximately 1 3-8-inches long and a half-inch piece of fingernail was also found. They believe it belongs to a woman because of the long, manicured nail.

Health investigators seized all of the ingredients at the restaurant and are tracing them back to their manufacturer. They believe the finger got into the chili at an earlier stage.

“We have no evidence of any accident within the employees at the facility itself,” said Ben Gale of the Santa Clara County Health Department. “We asked everybody to show us they have 10 fingers and everything is OK there.”

The restaurant has had only one minor health violation stemming from a leaky vent, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

“Food safety is of utmost importance to us,” Wendy’s spokesman Joe Desmond said in a statement. “We are cooperating fully with the local police and health departments with their investigation. It’s important not to jump to conclusions. Here at Wendy’s we plan to do right by our customers.”

Yeah, it’s all over the news here. I actually went once – many moons ago (when I hadn’t coverted to the “it’s NEVER OK to go to a fast food restaurant” belief system) – to the Wendy’s where it happened.

They’re still trying to figure out where the heck the finger came from. Good luck!

And also, when Wendy’s used to have mints by the exit doors, some lab did a test on them and found traces of urine on them. They figured that people would eat, go to the bathroom, not wash their hands, and grab a mint on their way out.

…Hmmmmm.

Note to self: never eat at fuckin Wendy’s again.

So what? It is perfectly understandable that a rat or part of a rat be found in a food porduct. Do note that rats are small animals not assigned individual names, identities, or social security numbers. When one of them or part of one of them goes missing, chances are that it will go unnoticed.

On the other hand, no pun intended, when a person loses a finger (or perhaps a whole body?), someone is gonna recognize that. I wonder what it was like at the meat packing plant that strange day? “Shucks! I cut off my finger. But I better not tell the boss man since I already done got wrote up for f*cking sally mae in the freezer last week.” It’s a situation that certainly needs further investigation before it gets out of hand.

Next thing you know they’re going to find a horses hoof in the soup.

They’ll have a lot of explaining to do trying to convince people that their meat is still 100% beef.

Read the book Fast-Food Nation…the shit in there about the food processing and stuff is wild did you know that the cows that are raised are feed there own feces because it is cheaper then buying cow feed…also ever wonder why the flavoring is all the same at the restaurants…the companies boil bugs and use the juice to flavor a lot of the food…theres more i just cant think of it…never eaten fast food since i read that book in school 3 years ago

I worked in the cattle feeding business for several years. I can tell you with a reasonably high degree of certainty that american beef cattle are not fed their own feces. Now, they will eats turds, justlike a dog will, but we’ve never dumped a sack labeled “Cow Shit” into the feed mixer.

There was a guy out here in West Texas/Eastern Mew Mexico that had bought some old abaondoned military sight that had several half-started missle silos. This guy filed for a grant, or loan, or something that required him to explain what he planned on doing with the money he recieved.

Anyhow this guy had what I considered to be a pretty novel idea. He was going to have a three layered feeding operation in the silos. On the top layer he would fee cattle. The cattle would lived in slotted-floor pens in which all waste material would fall through to the next level where he would raise hogs. The hogs would eat the cow turds that fell from heaven. They too would live in slotted-floor pens so that their waste could fall to the next level where there would be chickens to graciously eat what the pigs digested.

I’d just hate to be the guy that had to mess with the chickens.

I was referring to the actual caddle raised and produced specifically for McDonalds. According to the book, no one actually had a bag of cow shit and threw it in a trough to feed the animals, but they did shovel it up, pile it in a trough, and let the cows eat it. I am not saying that is the way it is everywhere because my family lives off the money used in raising, working, and producing livestock specifically cows. I know we don’t do that. Also if I’m not mistaken, the book referred to the feces feeding as being only during the last few weeks before being butchered. The book my have had a bias towards it, but I am just relaying information from a written source.

McDonalds doesn’t feed their own cattle. I know because we used to feed cattle for McDonalds.

If you’ve ever been to a feedlot you would see how impossibly inefficient “shoveling” cowshit into piles would be. The feces would have to be prcocessed in order to make the huge chunks of dried fecal material to be bioavailable.

McDonalds wants to produce as much meat as they can, as fast as they can, for the least amount of money they can. Feeding cattle feces - especially the way your book describes the process - does not fit in the equation.

I’m not calling you a liar, but I do think your book has some serious accuracy issues. At least it does wrt feeding cattle, because that is a subject in which I have more than a passing knowlege of.

I’de speculate that some lady pissed off one very messed up dude and ended up in Wendy’s chilli. They shouldn’t be investigating the numbers of fingers on the people at the factory, they should be investigating the missing persons reports in the area surrounding the factory. I bet the rest of her was ground up to an indistinguishable consistency and eaten with the rest of the batch.

Hey rain yea I’m just relaying the info set forth in the book. Obviously it has a bias towards the fast-food industry and quite possibly it could have been referenceing only one feeding lot for cattle and the way it was written led us to believe that was the way it is everywhere and by replying i wasnt trying to argue about this i was just laying out what i have read and thanks for finding fault in it im glad we discussed that

I am shocked! to hear that this lady has a somewhat shady past.

Really–how the hell would a human finger have made it through the necessary processing in any kind of shape? It turns out this lady has sued on several occasions complaining of product issues.

How big of a loser do you have to be to think that you even have a chance of winning that claim given her past.

We have to remember that in the U.S., “suing” is almost a “career” and means of income for many people…

All they have to do is find a willing “partner” (usually a shady lawyer) who takes on these types of cases (large cities and municipalities are like a large, unlimitied buffett to these guys)…and hope that things can be settled out of Court (which is their hope…)

When they are challenged like this women…things begin to fall apart…

Other countries (especially in Europe) have a MUCH higher threshold for allowing litigation…and in many cases require restitution if you lose a case (which cuts out many frivolous cases before they even reach the courts)…
