One could also argue that it’s racist that the fact that a black man was brutally murdered by white youths and it got no notice. I think it’s just harder for me, as a young white dude to understand, considering I didn’t grow up around or exposed to violent racism. The most racist thing I ever came across was the time one of my teachers dropped the n-word in class. Everything else were jokes, and those were pretty much evenly dispersed across the racial rainbow.

Well, I’m from Houston, and while things have definitely gotten better, the increased police presence in that city actually seems to keep it going in my opinion. I honestly can’t drive for more than two minutes without seeing a cop handing out a speeding ticket or about to.
I remember getting pulled over because of being BWD (black while driving). I remember people following me around shopping centers as if we were going to steal something. This shit wasn’t a figment of my imagination…and while it may be better, it isn’t like those instances didn’t help form my opinions and world view.
I mean, seriously dude, they were still conducting the Tuskeegee experiment until the early 80’s.
Huge media events like OJ, Obama being elected and many other issues have changed the landscape…but I still hear some of most vile bullshit comments from people about race when they think no one is listening and in majority, the average white person has not experienced anything like that.
It used to be a negative experience to hear yet another headline reading “Black man committed …”…and then have the news go and pick the most illiterate mutherfucker in the area to “interview” about what happened. It was wide spread propaganda whether people want to accept that or not.

Uh, this is a pretty clear incidence of malicious racism resulting in the death of a completely innocent human being. The media is portraying the facts of the incident, and they are certainly media-worthy. Should they go dig up a black-on-white racism incident to maintain balance?
You may actually have a good point, but this isn’t the place to make it. A more appropriate way to introduce this topic would be to find an incidence of black on white violence that is misrepresented by the media and start a thread about that.

Good post. I also agree with what the reporter said towards the end of the clip. But to completely throw out race as a violent motive in any situation where that is the possiblity is just silly.
Im sure the victims family would definately care to know who killed him and for what reason…if there is one at all.

While I do agree with this, it seems to me as if the media is much more hesitant to label incidents that are black on white as immediately racist, for example the issue that happened at the Winsconsin state fair…many media outlets were very careful to mention that these were black youths, and the attacks were all on white people. Many outlets are simply labeled as a mob attack, unfortunately race is an issue that cant be ignored, either way.
However In the other atrocious incident the media quickly labelled the incident as a racist attack, not simply a horrific attack on an innocent man.

Im from wisconsin and live close to the state fair. What happened hear is clearly a racially charged “flash mob” of black teens attacking white people.
when the news broke out they even gave a disclaimer saying how there news station doesnt like to use black teens as a decription. Wonder why? To stay PC and protect themselves from something?
