I’ll swirl some around between the teeth.

       SCORE!!!

I received this text while in the squat rack. I had my choice and the EH Taylor’s are absolutely fantastic. It doesn’t make up for a bad squat day but it helps.

That’s awesome! The Sazerac rye is a good one too, imo

Is Blanton’s in short supply these days? My uncle seemed to think so but I haven’t gone looking for it in a few years.

It’s definitely an allocated bourbon. It typically never makes it to the self. One city I live near has a municipal liquor store. When they have Blanton or other allocated bourbon they post it on Facebook and say “first one here gets it”.

Well that’s not surprising given the growth of the market. It’s good stuff and not ridiculously overpriced, at least the last time I bought it for around the same price listed in your text. That was probably around 2018 or so.

Ever since @Njord mentioned it, I’ve been keeping an eye out for the Heaven Hill 7yr BIB.

An area liquor store posted that they got some bottles in. When I got there I got the last one. When I first opened it , I thought the nose was a little light but Finnish was excellent and just kept going. I came back to it 2 weeks later and the nose really opened up. Excellent bottle for $54. I don’t know why some bottles get better after they have been opened and set for awhile.

Lucky find, they go quick!

This one is smooth vs packing a bite. It will keep opening up a little. I drink them all neat, but definitely no need to cut this one.

If you find a True Blue by Balcones (not to be confused with their Baby Blue), it will have a very similar flavor profile but is more punchy.

This one is an absolute favorite. I’ll have to be on lookout for Heaven Hill if they’re similar.

I usually drink the first one as an old fashioned, then top off neat after that. It picks up a bit of the orange and bitters in each drink after.

First time trying Basil Hayden’s…definitely won’t be my last time. This is great!

Their toasted barrel is great too.

Bottled my cask and shipped it over to London. Ended up with 50 half-litre bottles from a 30 litre cask, which is a pretty good return. It’s cask strength, 58.5%, so will be best with about half water, half whisky, and should last me a good while. Already planning the next cask…

I’m generally a Scotch guy; however you are ‘bang-on’ about the Even Williams BOB. IMO the Wild Turkey 101 is an underrated sipper as well.

Definitely. Rare Breed is good too. Wild Turkey is underrated for sure.

Yeah, but bourbon in Canada is expensive, basic, and I don’t know much about it. Ask me about Scotch or Japanese whiskey and I know more.

I think Bambi is enjoying at honeymoon right now but yeah this is my whiskey for sure…

I like a good scotch. Peaty Islays, specially Lagavulin, are close to my heart. But I do enjoy more fruitful speysides too.

If one has a buck to spend, I also recommend Octomore. That shit feels like breathing campfire, but it’s still surprisingly enjoyable and diverse. Just remember to take only small sips.

This is a phenominal blend. If you find it, buy it.

I drink bourbon or tequila, but my sister-in-law brought a bottle of some fancy scotch from Scotland. It reminded me of Chloraseptic spray. Not a fan at all.
