82% of bourbon drinkers can’t find certain bourbons right now. All 82% are looking for Pappy.

Me being an accountant, and this being busy season, I’ve been having a glass of something or other every night when I come home from work. And enjoying every sip as I catch up with my wife at the end of each day.

Lately it’s been Baker’s. This bottle is almost gone, not sure what I’ll open next.
I can’t remember if you said you could get the Kirkland bourbon at your local Costco but I’d say the Kirkland bourbon is so close to Baker’s that it would be a crime not to drink it instead. I mean price-wise. I’ve drunk about 4 or 5 bottles of Baker’s (when I couldn’t find Booker’s) and since I’ve found the Kirkland one I walk past the Baker’s at the classy supermarket now and feel like I’m passing by an ex-wife that parted with me on amicable terms.
I was given a bottle of the Kirkland stuff the other day. Not gonna lie, i did turn my nose up at first. But you’re right. Its not half bad. I know that its made by Beam. Reminded me more of Knob Creek than Bakers though.

^ I forgot to add how much I still like my Bookers. So, so smooth for a 131 proof whiskey. So viscous. So much toffee, honey, vanilla and brown sugar notes along with just a trace of good tobacco.
Without having tried Pappy’s Booker’s is my favorite spirit of all.

I understand. My palate canot really discern differences that well so I’d still be happy even with a cheaper Knob Creek.

Has anyone ever had Low and Slow rye? Some friends and I are planning a bourbon and Cards Against Humanity night Saturday night and a friend recommended Low and Slow. The reviews make it sound interesting - like it’s drinking the perfect old fashioned.

Should be a fun night. I’ll report back.

Three weeks later and no update. Guess it was a good night.

Just saw this little video about how Whistlepig has all its employees stay at their Vermont farm for a month, or longer, when hired to learn about whiskey, learn the business itself, do projects and reports on whiskey like in school. The whole nine. Interesting approach.

…speaking of Booker’s:

The first time I had me some was the first time my wife ever saw me piss ass drunk. I’ve since located a local retailer that sells it for $40/750ml and have enjoyed it respectfully ever since

Haha! Sorry! (It was a great night!)

Also, the whiskey is fucking fantastic. It’s described as “an old fashioned in a bottle” and it’s an interesting analogy, but I don’t think it’s completely accurate. It’s infused with honey and orange peel, so it’s similar, but not the exact same. Anyway, it’s delicious. It’s sweet, so it’s not like most whiskeys and if you like a sting-y, sharp drink, then it might not be for you. Of course, if you like to change things up, go for it.

It’s $20 a bottle around here with a bevmo card, so I think it’s worth checking out. I’ve given some to a couple of friends and they love it, too.

That’s about $20 lower than the going price 'round here.
That’s a great price. It’s at least $20 more around here.

That’s about the same everywhere else I’ve seen it stocked … needless to say I have a new favorite liquor store

I think I can squeeze in a few posts here and there throughout the day (dependent upon workload/deadlines etc…)

Things seem to be pretty slow on the boards huh?
