Well @ChongLordUno was right. I don’t know how back I’ll be but I decided to start posting again and all that. I can foresee some very aggressive workouts in my future…otherwise I’ll be too self destructive in other ways. Why? Well…huge life update. My wife is now my ex-wife. We are separated for now and when we have the money we will officially divorce. This only happened on Thursday night so it’s still fresh. It’s also hard to wrap my head around. We got married young and we had started dating when I was still 21. She was my first serious relationship, and I had many “firsts” with her. Now I turn 30 in a couple weeks and I’m single for the first time in the better part of 10 yrs. I have never gone through a serious breakup or anything as I hardly dated anyone before her. So last night I did the only thing I knew of when dealing with this and it came from my years of listening to country music. I listened to sad old country and started drinking. Wound up falling down the stairs and puking all over myself too. Not fun…don’t recommend. And I don’t want to head down that road too much, hence aggression in training is what I will do. Need to take out my emotions in my workouts.

And @T3hPwnisher if you could throw me any simple but brutal ideas based around bw stuff, kettlebells, or barbell, that would be much appreciated.

Anyways…that’s all for now.

Good to see you back dude. I wish it were under better circumstances, but like the phoenix, you will rise.

Very happy to contribute to that process. What sort of equipment limitations are we looking at there? How many KBs/what sizes? How much weight we got for the barbell? Bumper plates? Rack? Etc.

I married my high school sweet heart. We divorced after she had an affair a couple years ago. I’ll be 31 next time the calendar hits June so I feel your pain man.

If i could go back in time and tell myself a few things it would probably be;
Life isn’t over, just that part of your life. Morn the loss of the relationship, but don’t wallow in it.
Don’t fall for the easy things that temporarily alleviate the pain, the good shit takes time.

Also can’t recommend a bad ass therapist enough. No shame in seeing one, no matter how it feels. Mine was instrumental in helping me through my divorce, even if I didn’t listen to all the great advice lol she was still right and very helpful.

Gonna second @wanna_be’s suggestion for a therapist. My wife and I split at the end of last year, and therapy was a massive help.

You’ve got a support system on the forums too. Don’t forget that.

The unfortunate thing is that my set up is extremely stripped down right now…gonna be trying to change that soon with both my Christmas bonus and my tax refund. I have an Olympic bar and 2x25 lbs plates…so 95lbs total. There’s some CrossFit workouts that work with that, and poundstone curls with just the bar. But I also figure I can use my plates as extra resistance for stuff like push-ups and pull-ups. The plates and the bar could probably be very useful for lunge variations too…to be honest I was thinking for the time being that weighted push-ups, pull-ups and lunges could probably be my bread butter.

But anyways…I also am down to one singular kb, and it’s 45lbs. I have a few light dumbbells - 10’s, 20’s, and 30lbs. And then the only other thing is a few resistance bands.

Not ideal whatsoever but I know that it’s something that can still be worked around. Thanks again brother…much appreciated

Thanks for all of that. I appreciate it. Biggest thing I need to focus on is my kid. I don’t want him to get left behind at all

Thank you

Oh dude, you’re golden with that setting. You may not be able to come up with the world’s most effective mass building program, no, but you can still get in a LOT of hard work with that.

I’ll nug on it a little bit and come up with some evil ideas for you. In the interim: 95lbs and a pull up bar is all you need for Fran. I also do a workout with 95lbs here

Few other questions:

That KB: can you snatch it, or is it too heavy for that?

Are your 25lb plates bumpers or iron?

The dumbbells: are they pairs, or singular?

Yes I can snatch my kb, I just have to watch my right wrist every now and again due to work wear and tear.

My plates are iron, and the 10’s are a pair. The 20&30 is single. Should have mentioned that before sorry.

I also can do a landmine thing with my barbell too

Alright, so some ideas. The way I see it, pre-exhaust is gonna be the name of the game. For lower body, I’d do barbell complexes in the following fashion

Clusters (a clean into a thruster), then thruster, then front squat, then get the bar behind your head for good mornings, then back squats, then get the bar in front of you for rows, then deadlifts.

I could pick a fixed rep count, set a timer and go for max rounds of the complex in a certain time, or I could run each movement to failure and do 2-3 rounds of that, or I could do ladders. Lots of room for play.

For upper body, it’d be more simple: something like clean each rep and strict press into strict press into push press into jerk.

Is your pull up bar high enough for burpee chins? Those are a fantastic movement, and pair VERY well with swings, which could be done with that KB.

Thanks for that…much appreciated. And yes I could do burpee chins for sure

So according to the roommate cleaning schedule, it was my turn to fully clean the living room so while I was doing that, I knocked out 100 push-ups, something like 50-60 leg raises and a bunch of lunges (lost track). Will be doing another workout later.

I will start posting my workouts again…but what I have found so far since my marriage has ended is that night time is the hardest. During the day while I’m working it’s easy enough to zone out and even once I get home I’m still busy for a bit. But once everything is settled down and it’s quiet and I’m alone…that’s when it’s hard. My sleep has been screwy with all that too so I’m very very tired these days.

~random warm up shit~
And then…

Db clean and press/kb swing/air squat
- 10 reps each for 4 rounds
Kb snatch/kb row/push-ups
- 10/10/15 x 3 rounds
Kb swing/Ab wheel
- 20/10x 3 rounds

Face pulls x 50
Tricep push down x 50
Hammer curl x 25

My workouts are still a bit sporadic and I haven’t been logging much…but I’m gonna be trying to change that. One thing I know I need to do is find some sort of event (even just a 5k fun run) because I know it will help get me to kick things up a bit. Aside from that…I have 1 athsetic goal…I want to try to bring up my traps/upper back/delts. It’s easy enough to build my chest, lats, legs…but I never had the size in my yoke that I want to have. So…I’m gonna work on it.
