So…another life update. My life is in such a weird spot right now I don’t really know how to process things. Not all good and not all bad.
Let’s start with the not as good…my ex wife met a guy a little while ago who lives in the next province over, which is fine, however…she has decided to move out there him for may 1st…and of course my son will be living with her. So in other words, out of the blue I’m hit with the fact that in a month and half, my boy is gonna be in another province. Fortunately they will only 2.5 hrs away…but it’s still a mind fuck. And, it also so happens that my rent is going up but my lease ends for may so I’m gonna be moving somewhere else in town…probably a little apartment for now cause I’m gonna have to save money…I’ll be having to send money to the ex anyways ya know…
Now the good part…I talked to my boss about what’s going on with my ex, and he said he’d be happy to help me however he can, and he’s gonna throw more work my way so I can put in some more hours during the week. My ex will be transferring her gym membership to me, so in may I’ll also be able to start going to the gym, and that’s handy cause I won’t have a lot of room in my new place for a home gym. And because I’ll have more free time, I’m probably gonna hit it pretty hard. And finally…I started seeing a woman not too long ago. Met her through Facebook dating, and we hit it off really well. So that’s been fun…
So yeah…one more update to my roller coaster of a life
Edit…I meant to say too that it’s been a long ass time since I dated…so if anyone can throw me some idears I’d appreciate it
sorry to read about your son.
Thanks man. It is what it is.
Alright, so like I said before, in may I’m gonna be going back to a commercial gym setting. It’s been a while since I have done that…I have been in and out of them since I was 15, the longest consecutive stretch being about 2 years. Aside from that I have done tons of at home training. The last time I was in a commercial gym was probably 4.5 years ago and I can’t believe it’s been that long lol.
Anyhow, I’m gonna be training Monday through Friday because I’ll have my son 3 weekends out of the month. I imagine on my one free weekend I’ll probably end up going to the gym anyways just to distract my mind. But anyhow, I’m trying to decide what way I want to go…honestly I feel kind of lost for goals other than I want my training to hurt, and I want it to be intense…but do I go a bodybuilder route or do I go more of a strength route? Or somewhere in between? If I was just left to my own devices I’d probably end up putting together some sort of power building system, but there’s a big part of me that wants to follow someone else’s program so I can be told what to do if that makes sense.
I guess I’m looking for advice if anyone has any ideas. I’ll tag @T3hPwnisher @throwawayfitness @boilerman @ChongLordUno and maybe I can get a better idea of what way to go.
Do you prefer full body, ppl, or upper lower?
Have you ever run supersquats or deepwater?
Will you be eating enough to support your work?
You know the answer is Deep Water
@whiplash1 this for sure. I haven’t run a better program that kicks your ass and forces gains upon you. Also, the mental difficulty is just as beneficial as the physical, in my experience.
@T3hPwnisher @boilerman yeah you guys are probably right. I mean, I’ve watched you two run through it and I honestly wanted to give it a run but at the time I couldn’t. I’ll just have to track down the actual program itself.
@throwawayfitness I don’t really have a preference for splits…I have done enough with all of them to know that they all work if you give them enough time and effort. And as far as food goes…I don’t think eating enough will be a problem. I don’t exactly know what my grocery budget will shake out to so I don’t know if I’ll be able to go the deep water diet route…at least not at first…but we will see how things go. And no I haven’t run super squats or deep water yet but I think DW is probably the way to go.
If you search on amazon you can buy the e-book for $10, and the whole book is worth reading.
You can get it for free from here apparently
I keep hearing people having issues with getting the email there though.
The email on his website worked for me just a few months ago. I’m happy to forward you the link if it doesn’t work for you, I assume Jon wouldn’t mind since that website still seems to be actively trying to email them out.
The program is insane, you should run it.
Thank you very much, I’ll keep that in mind. ![]()

1000 step ups for time
My time supposedly : 41.55
So this is actually a hero/memorial wod called “Chad”. Your supposed to wear a 45lbs vest during it and use a 20” box….I had done this wod many years ago now and I couldn’t exactly remember how it was supposed to go or that it was a hero workout. Actually I had thought at first that it was 500 for time and I didn’t know the specifics of the vest and the box height. But as I was approaching 500 something told me to look it up and then I realized I was sort of doing it wrong…next time I’ll be specific on the box height and I’ll make sure to add some weight…but even at that with just body weight 1000 step ups for time is a good challenge. I know that my time next time will be a lot slower…but anyways….
Alright…so my obstacle race is on Saturday. I’m in the 9am competitive heat, and I’m competing in the 30-39 yr old age range…which is a bit of a mind fuck if I’m honest haha. Anyways, last week I did some good prep and testing, and so far this week I have been sticking to lighter pump stuff so I can stay fresh and have my joints feeling good. Been stretching a bit too. Marginally ramping up my carbs for race day as well. I don’t know how many obstacles will be on this course as they change it every year, but I do know there’ll be a warped wall type thing. It’s about 7kms long too and there’s exercise punishments if you fail an obstacle. So I’ll update as we go!
Looking forward to your write up man. Hope you crush it
Thanks dude!
