It’s a small thing, but I swapped from bread to wraps and I added more veggies into my dieting. Life gave me a small deload the past few days, but I’m ready to have at ‘er again.
These small things add up quick! That’s how I approach gaining and losing. I don’t care for big overhauls: just small tweaks. It’s psychologically so much easier, and for a non-calorie counter, so intuitive. Swap out whole eggs for egg whites. Chicken thighs for chicken breasts. Go half an avocado vs a full one. And when it’s time to gain: just reverse it. Losing is about being calorie efficient: gaining INefficient.
Get after it dude!
Absolutely man. Thanks! I’d far rather take this approach than counting everything.
Had a big slip at work on my stilts yesterday, and my low back feels goofy now. Gonna have to work on that a bit…any suggestions @T3hPwnisher @ChongLordUno ?
Rest up
Thanks
I think resting up will definitely be in order…right before home time I fucking fell off my 5’ workbench. Sprained my wrist and 2 fingers. Damnit.
I like getting blood flow to the area. Band good mornings, hypers, things like that
Alright…so by the end of last week I had beat myself up pretty good from work lol. I have worked out twice since then, just lite stuff for smaller muscle groups mostly as well as banded good mornings. Yesterday I did a neck workout of all things, which I am meaning to do more of honestly. I am feeling better for the most part, although my wrist and hand are still sore. Gonna try to do a little walrus training the rest of the week, just a couple workouts I think, and I’m thinking that if I’m done work early enough I will do some tire flips and maybe farmers carry. We will see. I also have a challenge in mind for the weekend…
Well it’s been a while since I updated in here. I’m doing a lot better than I was…between nearly falling in my stilts from the highest setting and falling off of my work bench, I was kinda beat up, but no broken bones or anything. I had landed on my wrist quite hard, it’s still recovering in the sense of the odd time I push the wrong way or whatever on it and it hurts. I have been training sporadically for the last 19 days since I last updated, but I haven’t gotten too crazy. This weekend was my wife and I’s 7 year anniversary, and my wife spoiled me. She said she was counting Father’s Day gifts in with it. In a couple weeks is my son’s 3rd birthday, and I’m really looking forward to it cause we are going out of town for it. Anyways…that’s all for now
Monday :
4 sets max reps chin-ups
4 rounds of kb complex swing-clean-clean&press-snatch
75 kb swings
Very simple and quick. I’m going into a phase at least for a little bit where I include a heavier emphasis on kb’s and body weight stuff. Still gonna hit the weights and the sled for some things…but this just the way I want to go for a while.
Tuesday -
Weighted push-ups x 4 sets
final set was a mechanical drop set if you want to be technical lol…in other words I went from regular push-ups to having my knees on the floor to get a few more reps
100 kb swings
Plate curls/overhead raises superset
Still keeping things basic and getting it done
Did an arms workout earlier this week that had my biceps sore for 3 days
Wife and I are planning on getting bikes soon so that will be added to it…I probably will just be getting a cheap mountain bike from Canadian tire. Mountain bikes are what I have always used…but I’m finding myself wondering about a cheap road bike, or even looking on kijiji. I have never been on a road bike so I don’t really know anything about them
I have got to get back to recording at least semi-regular in here. Life is just busy and expensive.
Starting wed for at least four weeks I’m gonna be on a huge project out of town. Average of 12-14 hrs a day. Great for the paycheck at least. I figure to put myself on a simplified program based around body parts which I will start tonight. The idea is to do a couple movements for the given part, and hit them really hard. Follow up with some stretches/flexibility at least for the bigger/main body parts and do a little conditioning. Keep it short and sweet. Tonight will be chest. Cause it’s Monday.
Monday nite
Push-ups x 3 x 20 then a couple sets of myorep stuff
Resistance band Flys x 4 sets + stretching after each set
Ab wheel x 30
Kb swing x 100
Side raise + curls x 3 sets
So the scheduled stuff went well. The myorep work was what I needed but I probably won’t wait long to add a band or a plate to all of my push-up sets. Flys went well and I combined the stretching/flexibility with them at the end of each set. Moved my arms around a bit in the stretch and tried to push deeper…ah the beauty of resistance bands for that kind of shit.
Conditioning was very simple and to the point as written.
Then, true to my character I couldn’t help but add in a little bit extra so I threw in my favourite small muscle group superset - side raises and curls. I only kept it to a few sets but I got a nice pump from it.
General upper body workout with no plan cause I have been lazy the past few days…at least with working out
Bb curl / tricep ext superset x 3 sets - abdominal twists between sets
Bb ohp superset with upright row x 4 sets
Bb row superset with push-ups x 3 sets
This huge job I’m on right now stressful. When the contractor wants things done is completely unrealistic…we are doing lots everyday and doing good, but there’s no way in fucking hell we can be done by the end of the month. Fortunately I’m not in charge, and the guy who is told the the contractor that there’s no way it’s happening. It will be what it will be I guess…fortunately we are getting another guy on the crew tomorrow.
One thing I will say is that I’m slowly feeling my age and my years in the trade. I’m turning 30 this yr, been in the trade for 10 years, coming up on 11…I’m not old or weak obviously but I’m also not 20 anymore. This trade wears on the body pretty hard, plus being a dad and what not adds to it. There’s been a couple days that definitely kicked my ass.
Gonna being trying to get in a chest workout of sorts tonight. Probably based around push-ups, floor press and flys for the most part but we will see.
Well everyone…I decided that I am gonna be leaving the forums. I know that I’m not a big personality here or whatever, but I still wanted to say something because t nation has been a part of my life since I was a teenager.
I remember when I discovered t nation…i was probably around 15 or 16 and I was wanting to learn anything and everything I could about training. I just wanted be as strong as possible back then. I used to devour the articles, and for many years I would deep dive into articles by specific authors. I have read every article the I could find by John Meadows (RIP), Dave Tate and Jim Wendler. I used to lurk on the forums a lot too, but my parents were against me starting an account. I remember the days of ProfessorX too.
I did try to get away with an account multiple times, but when I got caught by my parent’s I would have to get rid of it. So I was off and on the forums for awhile. And seeing as im leaving, I will admit that I had the BigDaddi account not so long ago. I still don’t understand what the screwup was, but I got logged out and couldn’t get back in, so I started a new account all together. I just didn’t say anything about that at the time.
In the past year or more, @T3hPwnisher and @ChongLordUno have been big influences to me and I really appreciate being able to talk to you guys and ask questions. What you guys put out has been very inspiring to me. Thank you.
But why am I leaving? Because I find that t nation doesn’t fit in my life anymore. Life is so busy and time goes by so quick…I find myself not really coming on here much anymore, or even thinking about this site very much. And tbh, I haven’t read articles here in such a long time now. Training will never stop all together, but t nation has ultimately faded away for me. I really appreciate though what this site has done for me when it comes to my training knowledge and overall experience.
This past year, I have made massive changes to my life…ground breaking, worldview changes. Those changes are taking my family and I on an interesting path. My goals are changing, my desires are changing, and I’m excited to see what all happens.
I have been training since I was about 13 years old. I have had highs and lows, I have hit some awesome prs (and I know there will be more to come), been pretty damn jacked and pretty damn lean. I’m gonna keep training, for many reasons, and the influence from this site and forum will always remain. I wish everyone the best of luck and life. Thanks.
You’ll be missed dude, but I understand your decision. Been awesome having you along, and I’m happy to hear I was of any help through your journey. Stay in touch.
Thanks man, very much appreciated
