Whiplash : Getting Jacked to be the Scary Dad

Ok so here is a bit of a write up I guess with the t-ransformation thing. Diet wise I know exactly what I’m doing and I started today. Basically following the anabolic diet for now which I have been wanting to do for a while anyways. The anabolic diet led me into keto in the past and I ended up in a keto-carnivore sort of state before I went back to carbs hah. Chances are I’ll eventually end up in something like that again. But for now…anabolic. Still unsure what my training is gonna look like exactly but I know I need to ramp up the conditioning in one way or another because I have events I want to do this year and I need to be in shape for them. I’m gonna post some more “before” pics either tonight or tomorrow and I’ll probably have the odd progress pic as we go through this thing. I’m looking forward to it all honestly. I’m gonna do my first workout of 2024 tonight and I’ll post my supper pic in this post here.

It doesn’t look like much I know, but it’s 3 slices of bacon and three eggs, I cooked the eggs in the bacon grease and I also threw some cheese in there and some hot sauce. Along with 1 slice of low carb bread. It’s not much but it’s a good start for 2024. It’s not a resolution, it’s a continuation. The continued goal of being better.

So my first workout of 2024…was a bro-tastic one. Cause fuck it right? Why not.

Bench 5 sets
Push-ups 4 sets
Flys 2 sets
Push downs x 50 reps
Concentration curls x 3 sets

It was a feel good workout ultimately but there’s nothing wrong with that

Ok, so I wanted to upload one more pictures of myself in regards to the transformation challenge. The main pictures I took were relaxed, no flexing and so on. This picture is flexed, and what not obviously and it’s probably more for me than anything just to really see where I’m at for my starting point. I’ll probably wind up doing some arm pics and stuff later/as we carry on but one of my main areas that I look at is my midsection. Tonight I’ll be hitting back as well btw. One of my goals is to post a lot more regularly in here too.

I hate saying it but I wound up skipping my pull aka back session last night. Life stuff…I’ll make up for it though.

Alright…so I know we are only 11 days in now for the transformation thing, but when I first entered I wasn’t sure exactly what direction I was gonna go with training. However, what I have settled into for the time being is basically doing a push pull legs thing on mom/wed/fri and then doing some conditioning focused stuff on the weekends…so CrossFit wods and boxing. I really need to get my hands on a treadmill one of these days too…it’s not ideal but I have a few races I want to do so I need to run a bit. And we are now finally in a classic Canadian winter so running outside is not that fun…I know it sounds like an excuse but it is what it is.

Alright…unfortunately I need to admit that the last two weeks roughly have been very shitty for me. I never mentioned it on here, but I had gotten myself into what I thought was a good relationship with a good woman. I got hurt pretty bad from what she did and obviously it ended.

Last week and all this week I haven’t trained at all and I even started vaping again. I didn’t vape as much on Friday, I didn’t vape at all yesterday and so far today I’m ok. I’ll be able to be 100% away from it again I’m just upset with myself for caving on it. I do work this afternoon, but I will be training tonight in some way. Maybe boxing would be a good idea. And then tomorrow I’ll get myself back into the swing of things. Fortunately my diet didn’t go off the rails so that’s good.

Heavy bag work x 5 rounds freestyle

Legz

Zercher squat x 4 sets
Sumo dl x 4 sets
Rdl x 3 sets
Weighted Lunges x 3 sets
Banded pull thru x 3 sets
Sissy squat x 3 sets
Calf raises to finish

Alright…so this was the leg day today and all in all I got a nice pump from it. I will say that I can’t wait to buy my squat stand set up, because I really don’t like zercher squats. Don’t get me wrong…I can handle paint and discomfort and what not…there’s just something about zerchers that doesn’t feel 100% right. And maybe it’s a matter of core strength? Idk…I’ll still do them regardless. Zerchers and sumos were my heavier exercises with a few less reps, and the rest were a little higher and lighter. I supersetted the pull thrus and sissy squats which was a great combo I’ll say I will that sets 2 and 3 of sissy’s I was definitely struggling cause the pump was very real. The calf raises were so-so but they did the job. This was definitely more of a bodybuilder style of leg day, just using the exercises that work best for my current situation. As I get other pieces of equipment things will change up a bit but that’s still gonna be a bit till I get there.

Never tried Zerchers… I’m sensitive to the type of squats I try due to low back issues forever. A home gym sounds awesome after the crowd of kids with no gym etiquette. I just don’t have the space yet.

Yeah zerchers are an interesting one that’s for sure. If you decide to try them, start light. And yeah I get the crowd thing. When I have belonged to commercial gyms I always went either early in the morning or at night. But if I can get my home gym vision to come together it’ll be sick and cover my bases really well. That said…there’s supposed to be a hardcore bodybuilding gym coming to town with in the next couple years supposedly…so I may end up going there as well as using my gym too. If that gym happens that is…they have had set backs.
