Whey for Lactose Intolerant

Been searching on here and gathering some info on the topic at hand but am looking for some outright recommendations.

I am severely lactose intolerant as well as an IBS sufferer and find it very hard to get the nutrition I need and not get sick.

I’ve tried Surge and that tore me up. Also, too many eggs do the same.

So…I am looking for suggestions of quality Whey Isolate products to try.

Thanks.

Beef Protein Isolate!! Look it up, search for it on google.

Optimum Nutrition makes a protein called Gold Standard that has lactase enzyme in it to help digest the lactose.

the other option is to take a lactase enzyme supplement (Vitamin Shoppe makes a good one) with any protein shake with whey in it (that’s what I do and it works great).

dan

I’ve checked out the Optimum Nutrition’s product and since it has Whey Concentrate I’d rather get a pure isolate. Even though it has lactase in it…

The beef product doesn’t sound too appetizing.

I have the same problem, and the answer is Designer Whey…

I hear ya. I haven’t tried it personally, but it supposedly tastes good, depending on the flavor you choose.

isn’t ion-exchange whey lactose-free? a few companies sell that. isopure comes to mind. steer clear of their fruity flavors though, havent heard anything good about those.

You could try gemma (pea) protein. Has a cake batter like consistency.

Isopure looks intriguing. Any suggestions on flavors? How about between the regular, low-carb and zero carb varieties?

BTW, I’m looking to gain weight, so carbs in general aren’t an issue for me.

Thanks guys.

Any flavor suggestions?
I’m leaning towards the Isopure Natural in chocolate.

…Sorry if this is a double post–my last one isn’t showing up here.

i had a sample pack of the natural choc. it wasn’t bad. it foams up a bit when you shake it, but that’s not a big deal. if you’re looking to gain weight, i’d suggest adding carbs of some sort. waxy maize starch or malto/dext mix would be good. I’ve also heard good stuff about swedish oat starch.

This also contains polyphenols (healthy crap) and a big higher percentage of leucine that a lot of the whey protein brands I have tried. It’s also pretty cheap. The flavor is different than whey, though.
