Ah but you are forgeting people like Jim were born big so it never took him any effort to eventually squat 1000lbs. Same for successful athletes so logically their coaches would, in fact, be less qualified than the norm.
Also, successful athletes are on steroids, which means they are unsuccessful, whereas unsuccessful athletes are natural, which means they’re actually REALLY successful when you compare their accomplishments with others.
Lol! The logic of the internet!
my mind is completely and utterly blown
I think this was the shit that led to Dorian Yates’s DMT trips.
How did you like the Starting Strength set up? Full body routines are fun.
Was 3 worksets at the same weight a big change? Did you go a little heavier than you had been doing 5/3/1?
Yea I’ve always liked training full body since that’s what I was used to in sports, the weights are a bit heavier than when I was on 5/3/1 but I usually don’t rest more than 3-4 minutes. I started on phase 2 since my deadlift numbers are beyond my squat numbers. I feel excited to keep adding weight workout to workout instead of just hitting rep PRs. I ate a lot so I can try to go up 10 on squat instead of 5 since my squat is pretty low but if I’m not feeling it I won’t.
You’re being an idiot.
Sorry I’d rather use my time and energy doing stuff that’s more efficient
you’re either a spaz or a troll.
Just train your arms. There’s not a single reason not to.
Some people need to touch the bench rather than take the “wet paint” sign on merit.
Jesus Christ this thread is crazy.
Granted, arm work is not the 1st important thing on he gym, nyt whhy do you think it is completely useless?
Maybe this is one of those trend things like Punisher did wrote earlier. People just go towards extremes, I know many examples where people claim isolation work, arm work and even ab work being totally obsolete… Seriously.
You have the main things right now. Push the SS for a whi,e and everything goes good, but LEARN to learn. You don’t know everything yet.
Ps. And Wendler lists curls as an important assistance excersise for press/bench.
Pps. Many typos edited, fucking pads…
I don’t consider them useless in general, just useless to me now. They took it out of hand lol
This quote (and ones similar to it) speak differently, and is why people reacted in the manner that they did.
I 100% agree. “direct arm work doesn’t fit in with my priorities right now” is a totally different statement from “direct arm work doesn’t benefit anyone, even the top athletes who use it as part of their training”. This is how internet arguments start.
