Where to Learn?

Hey guys, I’m a 20 year old male, 6’4", 250#, around 12% body fat. When I was 16 I started dabbling around in the gym. This past year, I’ve gotten serious about my lifting, and I’m starting to dabble in the realm of steroids and prohormones.

My max lifts as of now (all raw) are:
320 bench
410 squat
510 deadlift

I definitely want to wait at least a couple of more years before I jump into a cycle (if I decide to do so), but if and when I decide to make the leap, I want to be as educated as possible. I’ve read through almost all of the threads in the sticky’s, but I still feel like I have no direction in my attempt to learn about AAS use.

Some of my biggest concerns are as follows:

Where can I learn about different substances? i.e What the fuck is the difference between Dianabol and Test?

Where can I find information of proper dosage and cycling, the importance of anti-Es, et cetera?

How real is the risk of getting busted? I am about to start my first year at a very prestigious law school, and I don’t want to throw away my career to pack on a couple more pounds of muscle. Can anyone in a professional field share any of their experience?

How safe is it to buy? From what I can tell from various articles, my options are buying my from local gym bro, going to Mexico and going to an animal hospital, or having something shipped internationally. Because this shit is obviously not legal in the United States and as such there is not a lot of regulation, should I be worried that half of my test will be filled with piss?

I’m sure I’ve misused quite a few terms, and I might have even crossed a few lines in terms of what can and should be openly discussed on a public forum, but I’m really struggling to find reliable information on the web. The Newbies sticky seems a bit outdated (started in 2003), so if anyone care share their personal experience, links to good websites, book recommendations, etc., I would really appreciate it.

TL;DR I’m not asking for help to construct a cycle or looking for a dealer, I am just looking for some reliable sources to better educate myself in the field.

For info on cycles and compounds, check out the stickeys. There are two geared for new guys and they are very beneficial. Also hanging around this forum and lurking the posts will give you some insight into what people critique for the cycles. You are wise to seek this info out and understand it before jumping in.

Can’t really help with the other stuff other than to say that steroids are illegal (Schedule III controlled substance in most cases) which I’m pretty sure is a felony…soooo…

Check out the Anabolics series by William Llewellyn. Its helped me a ton, nothing comes close

As far as the legality issue goes, ive heard Legal Muscle by Rick Collins is the #1 source on the subject but havent read it personally

I’ve just begun to article for a certain proffession in which any felony would have me ejected from the school and banned forwith from the proffession. I can say that almost no-one that possesses exclusively for personal use ever gets prosecuted. If you are hyper paranoid about this kind of thing, try and maintain maximum distance from the dealer network / UGL. The sad truth is that most UGLs are somehow involved in the ‘hard’ drug trade as well.

As for knowledge side of things, use a well recommended template for your goals (ie: Test 500mg/w x10 weeks, DBol 50mg/d x4 weeks, Arimidex (An Aromatase Inhibitor, AI) .5mg ED x 10 weeks, then Clomifene Citrate (a Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator, SERM) for 4 weeks at 100/100/50/50mg, starting 10 days after last pin.) or something similar.

So you may look at that and not quite understand the nature of the chemical interactions goingon there, but if you break it into components you can gain a good base of knowledge just by having an understanding of:

1.)Androgens and there function, and the stimulation of the Androgen Receptor site, which causes protein synthesis and Satelite cells creation (aka brand spanking new muscle fibers).

2.)Anabolics and the role of insulin and glucose in hypertrophy.

3.)Ester lengths and their effects on the potency of the attached compound (molecular weight - ester weight = potency of compount, IE: why Test Prop is more Potent milligram for milligram than Test Enanthate), as well as the Half-Life of the ester and its relations to injection frequency. Alkylation and how it protects the compound through the digestive tract and helps in its absorbtion into the blood stream. Why does alkylation make the compound Hepatoxic? Why is this bad?

4.) Aromatase activity, where it occurs, what it does, and why is it important to suppress with an Aromatase Inhibitor. Which compounds aromatize and which don’t? Why?

5.) Estrogens: Estrone, Estradiol and Estrione whats the difference between them? Seek to understand the love hate relationship with E, and why a balanced approach to Estrogen management is the only way to maintain skin quality, joint health and fuction, mood, libido, and erection hardness. Selective Estrogen Receptor modulators what do they do? How do they differ from Aromatase inhibitors? When should they be used? Why are they so effective for Post Cycle Therapy?

6.) Human Chorionic Gonadtropin mimics Leutinizing Hormone, what is their function in the body? Why does using HCG prevent testicular atrophy? What other hormones do your Testes synthesize that contribute to a healthy functioning body and mind?

7.) Hypothalmic-Pituitary-Testicular-Axis how do these 3 organs work together to regulate hormone levels in your body? How does using exogenous Androgens suppress their activity? How do SERMs effect the HPTA axis? Why is it important to let all AAS clear your system before commencing SERM usage? How long should you stay ‘off’ after a cycle and PCT before starting another, to maintain HPTA function?

8.) Injection Protocols Why is it important to sterilize? What should you wipe down the top of your vials with? What is Aspiration and why is it important? Why should oils be injected intramuscularly ONLY? I generally recommend nursing resources for learning about injections.

If you understand all the terms listed in bold, you are well on your way to being ready for AAS use.
Maybe I’ll repost this as a guide for noobs to help further their understanding before posting a ‘First Cycle OMG!!’ thread that has me facepalming hard.

To the OP, thank you for being cautious in regards to AAS, I wish you many happy years of successful cycling in your future.

Cheers,
-PTD
