Where To Get Chains!!

I’m getting a powerrack this week and since ill be at home i would like to start adding in chained lifts, my old gym wouldnt allow it, it will help greatly for me i think
can i just get leangths of home depots chains or where should i get them? for cheap plz too!

I got mine from the hardware store. Branch Warren uses boat anchor chain if that helps.

Here in Australia, most of tips/rubbish dumps have “recycling centre” where they sell old bikes, computer monitors etc. for a few bucks…

Most hardware stores and home centers will only go up to 3/8 inch link material diameter chain. To get the amount of weight you want to add you’ll want 1/2 inch, 5/8 inch and 3/4 inch chains. Try an agricultural or industrial supply store. You want the cahins in pairs of 5 ft. long sections.

As a good reference as to the weight of chain per foot of length check out http://www.mcmaster.com/. You want Grade 30 plain finish (it’s the cheapest, spray some wd40 on it if you’re worried about it rusting). Grade 30 is the cheapest since it is not rated for lifting. You won’t be lifting anything with it.

1/2 in = 2.64 lbs/ft. $4.16/ft.
5/8 in = 3.93 lbs/ft. $6.63/ft.
3/4 in = 6.28 lbs/ft. $16.13/ft.

Or you could try Ironwoody.com, or Elitefts.com

Or I’ve seen this guy Chains - Chain by Type - Weightlifting Chain - 1st Chain Supply Not as cheap as McMaster but he does include shipping and does have some info on how much chain you’ll need.

I know of a place in Raleigh NC where you can get 1/2 inch chain for about $2/ft.

Farm supply stores are usually pretty cheap, too.
