Where Did You Meet your Partner

I’m just curious to know where you guys met your girlfriends/wives.
People tend to go out to bars to meet women, but most of the people I know who are in long term relationships met their partners through school/college/university or work.

Second period (Band), first day of Jr. High School, 1984.

At a party. I knew one person there. She made out with my best friend for a little bit, then I talked to her later. We went back to my place, had sex, started having more sex, started dating and now live together.

I’ve had 3 major relationships - the best 2 began as being just sex.

I met my wife when we were in college, we sorta met through a mutual friend.

We couldn’t stand each other at first, she was a snooty bitch that came from a very wealthy family, I was just a poor hayseed farmboy that wore dirty boots to class. We were alway talking shit to each other, and making fun of everything the other person did. This went on for a few months, then we ended up in an English class together.

Not only did I have to put up with her hanging around my house, now I had to sit in the same room with the bitch. Even worse… we were forced to pair up for a group project (I always hated that shit) and ended up spending a lot of time together in and out of class.

I don’t remember when things turned around between us, I just know that I started missing her when she wasn’t around. One night we went to the bars together, we both got completly wasted. I woke up at her house (on the couch) and the rest is history…

Today… She is my biggest supporter and I don’t know what I would do without her.

bronco: that is awesome.

LOL, guess!!! At the gym! I worked there, he was a member. We talked all the time. I left for 7 months and was never supposed to come back…but I did…and sparks flew, hehehe…

We’re still training there

I met my wife online. My marriage was crap, I wasn’t happy, and I was out hanging around various online communities when I met this college student who had just turned eighteen and was discovering the wonders of her newly-available internet access.

Meanwhile, my first wife was nagging me to get a stable and secure job instead of constantly doing temp work to stay afloat while trying to start my own business. (The whole time, she was secretly running up debts and destroying our credit, which would later completely fuck up any chance of an amicable divorce.)

Once she discovered I had met a pretty young college student online, she started accusing me of cheating on her. This was the first time any romantic involvement even occurred to us; after all, I was married. But for some inexplicable reason, my first wife then made a long list of all the reasons this other woman would be a better wife, then argued with me about whether she was right – and whether it was actually within the realm of possibility for me to leave her and move all the way across the country for this other woman.

After about four or five months, she convinced me. We separated, and when the divorce was final the following year, I moved from Virginia to Washington state to see if anything would come of this relationship.

After seeing each other long-distance for about two years, she moved to Seattle for a year, then we moved in together for a couple years, and finally got married just over three years ago. Our son Logan just turned four months old last week.

I met my wife on a blind date. My sister set me up. They were in the same sorority in college. We were engaged two weeks later.

Me Solomon Grundy

For some reason all the girls i end up dating used to date my friends first

I met my girl when we lived in the same apartment building. We got to skip all the bullshit dating. We never did the “dinner and a movie” or any of that uncomfortable crap. In fact, we rarely left the building, other than for work or class. Then, we decided we hated winter, so we moved to Arizona. It’s been about two years together, and it couldn’t be better. And, much like ninjaboner, started out sexual, now it sucks when she’s not around.

CDarklock - that’s cool man (except for the divorce thing), my wife and I met online too. I had left a comment on a Satanist website (no, I’m not one) and my wife, being an Anthropology major, was researching other religions. She saw what I wrote, thought it was interesting and sent me an e-mail saying “Hi, where are you from?” I didn’t get much e-mail, so I was wondering where she got my address. But I wrote her back and we started talking pretty frequently. After a while, we started really getting into each other, we had traded pics and spoken on the phone often. The first e-mail came in January, I flew out to LA from Ohio at the end of August that year. I almost didn’t make it due to pilot strikes, but I was very nervous to say the least. I was one of the last ones off the flight, so she was concerned that I didn’t come! Once I caught a glimpse of her as I was walking out the breezeway, my knees almost gave out. I dropped my bag, we kissed for a while and then I went home to meet her folks. I spent 10 days there. We met up a couple more times before living together. Now here we are married for almost 3 years. Good things can happen!

To-Shin Do

It was her birthday. We met at a restaurant while eating a pizza.

Asked her to dance at a bar.

I was at work in the ER (I’m an ER nurse) on night shift. It was his first shift in our district working as a police officer. He brought in a suspect under arrest for medical clearance (physical exam to make sure the suspect is a-ok health wise to be incarcerated). I was newly single, having broken up with my old bf of two and a half years, because being a well known competitive skateboarder/model, I caught him with several groupie type girls and we had a horrible breakup…so I DID NOT want to have anything to do with men, except for training with them.

When he first walked in HPD_Iron said a big “hello” and smiled a lot, and kept trying to talk to me. I was taking vital signs on the arrestee/patient and assessing him, which meant I had to bend over a lot…HPD and the other officers were way too quiet when I was caring for the patient. I caught HPD_Iron several times looking at my butt when I was bending over, which made me think “he’s just a horny policeman.” His eyes also bulged out of his head and almost popped out when I caught him staring at my boobs. So I thought, “horny f***er, not a chance.”

Back at the nurses’ station, as a prank the ER doc and staff were fanning themselves with charts, and the ER doc said, “it’s getting hot in here, the chemistry between you too is THICK”. Having just been hurt, I said, “no way, he’s just a horny policeman, men are off my list”.

Later, Iron approached me, stuck out his hand and introduced himself, with a hearty handshake. I was impressed but still didn’t want anything to do with men except to train with them.

Hours later, Iron called the ER and asked for me (the other cops gave him the 4-1-1 on me). I found him to be super duper nice. He asked me to lunch, I took his number and gave him my number with the idea that since he’s a horny cop and I didn’t want a boyfriend, I’d just go to lunch with and use him for sex. I told the ER doc that he had just called, and the ER doc said he had a feeling that one day I’d marry HPD_Iron.

Two days later we went to lunch. He was an interesting conversationalist. We hit it off and were and still are so compatible. He was a gentleman. He sent me long-stemmed red roses the next day. That was five years and six months ago, and we are passionately in love…

Met my wife (a.k.a J-Vixen) on Jan 3 2004 in the gym. We were married on Aug 4 2004 in Ocho Rios.

I met my fiance at a pub/bar…so I guess I’m the odd one out here. She was sitting at the table I wanted out in the sun so I bought a bottle of wine and went up and asked to sit next to her…the rest as they say is history…we get married this coming Jan 05.

I met my GF in a physiology lab… I was her TA. Chicks dig power, what more can I say.

We have the Guiness world record for greatest first date of all time -it was first presented in the year 2000 edition.

Cheers

I met my wife though Church. I always figured I had a better chance there than in a smokey bar. We’ve now been married for 15 months, just newbies, but having a blast together.

I met my wife when I was dating her sister just after high school. Her sister and I had been very good friends all through HS and made the mistake of trying to finally be in a “dating relationship” instead of our “great friends with the occassional fringe benefit” situation that worked well for years.

Anyway, my wife is a year older than her sister and had moved out to Vancouver when she was 16 so I had never met her until she came home to visit for the summer prior to departing for university. At that time her sister and I were having real issues and broke up, but since I was the only person my future wife “knew” back home we kept hanging out and talking over a daily coffee. She freely admits that she pursued me back then, despite the obvious no-no in going after her sister’s ex (after a messy break-up).

We started having some great sex…and then she went off to university. Over the next few months she convinced me to apply to the school as well and I got in. I moved in with her the next year as we attended school together. Both graduated a few years later and moved back “home” for a year while she went to Teacher’s college. We’ve been together for the last decade and were married 4 years ago.

My wife and I both took an Oklahoma Banker’s Association internship before our senior year at OU. We were married exactly 1 year after we met.
