Hey being a rebel means beating the hell out of these guys. I was a punk in high school (as in followed the punk music and ideas such as less government and the like) and we hated the gangbangers. Those kids are no rebels, they conform to fit in, they are afraid to be different.
I personally hope they just shoot each other and die off. Let’s face it there are some people not worth saving.
Saying that the parents are the ones who should step in is a nice thought, but it is only an ideal thought. In reality the parents are just as bad off as the kids. Typically it is poor parents that live in the inner city who have these future gangbangers, and for whatever reason they think they can make decent parents. If you are working 3 jobs, never home, living in the ghetto to support your kids, guess what? You are a shitty parent.
Why are they shitty parents? Because they are never home to set an example and discipline their kids. They always seem to expect that the kid will see how hard they are working for them and this will somehow instill morals in them. It doesn’t, all it does is give them an excuse when they are arrested, saying that there parents were never there.
I guess my rant comes from living in DC for 22 years. If you ever want to see first hand examples of the things I went off about, go to Southeast DC and take a look around. It’s a shit hole, and you might just get mugged.

Asshole; women were working long before any equal rights movement was initiated. The purpose was not to “allow” women to work, it was to give women an equal voice and representation.
Morality in a society flows from the top down.When people look to their leaders (political,business,social)nowdays, what do they see?

I for one can say that I really would not want to be a child in today’s world for all the tea in China.

When the “Bad guys” are actually the role models of society that we foist on them,how do we expect them to see the light?
As long as greed,for money,for power,for control is what is revered by society above all else,then we will be getting exactly what we have sown.
A fragmented society where care and concern for your fellow man is generally regarded as way down the list of desirable attributes,and those that do provide the glue that bonds a society (teachers,policemen,nurses and many more) are not accorded the respect they deserve,can only go one way.
When charity,wether government or personal,is considered anathema and against the greater good of the society,there can only be degeneration.
When pursuit of wealth and power is the benchmark of what makes you worthy,and very little is thought of the social capital you contribute in other ways,then what message does that send out?
That being a Good Guy is not really what its about,the Bad Guys get the pot of gold.
The Bad Guys run the plantation,and the Good Guys are an endangered and shrinking population.

The women’s lib movement promoted work outside of the family as the means to a woman’s freedom. It initially encouraged part-time or charity work, but later on (probably after a hijack of the movement), women were told they had to work 40 hours to be equal with men.
This had a serious effect on the number of hours worked per a family, and that was my point. Fewer hours spent being a human and raising humans, the result is the decay of humanity. Not that women were or were not working before a certain year. Where did you read that?
