Nice man!
Hows training been for you? Only 10 days away!

Somewhere called Mytholmroyd, think it’s near Bradford. Bit of a distance from you though.
I’ve competed about 3-4x there just couldn’t remember the spelling! About a 2.5hr drive and I only compete at the English there as it’s a fair drive and I have to stay in a hotel the night before as it is a mission to drive 2.5hrs and then to lift! Not ideal!

Training’s been alright, I was a little worried considering I basically lost about 2 weeks at the end of April due to final exams and my back seizing up on me, but I’m feeling pretty good right now. Little heavier than usual, but I accidentally dropped down to 103.03 for my last comp so I should be alright there haha.

I see mate. What sort of weights have you hit in training?
I’ve Snatched 115 on 2 occasions and C&J 140 on 3 occasions. Not pushed heavier then 180 x 3reps on the back squat.

I’ve hit a 119 snatch (narrowly missing 121 a couple times) and a 152 clean and jerk within the last week or so. Both are training PRs but still well below my comp PRs haha. I tend to outperform my training lifts on comp day.

Couple quick questions
Iâ??m coming in a couple pounds over 85kilo (189 as of now). What do you guys suggest as a fool proof way to drop about 2lbs 3 days out?
Meet Ritual? What do you do pre-meet?
Any advice? Something you wish you knew before your first meet?
2 pounds is an absolute pittance, if it was me I probably wouldn’t do anything different until the day of, and would just have a small/light breakfast. Then pig out between weigh-in and the meet. Also, what time of day are you 2 pounds over? I normally drop 4-5 pounds while I’m sleeping at night, you have to take that into effect too.
You mean the couple hours before? I’m usually eating/drinking like a pig to recover from what little weight cutting I do, haha. Just do what I gotta do to stay relaxed, and as the time to start warming up gets closer I start to dial in my focus. Not consciously, really, it just sorta happens.
Relax and enjoy it. At your first meet you shouldn’t be too worried about the results anyways, and you’ll gain valuable experience and a good feel for how things happen in a competition setting.

Nice. I’ve missed 120 about 7x in the past few weeks and 121 once :P, missed Jerking 142 3x, Cleaned 155 once, missed Clean 160 twice
Tapering off for the comp really makes me a lot fresher and I just feel much more powerful on the comp also.
I’m going to go light tomorrow and do both lifts heavy on Monday.

Like Jonty learn to track your weight so you know how much you lose on average over night. I’m about 2.5-3lbs lighter in the morning then the evening at the very minimum. If I eat a lot at night I drop more weight post toilet. You will lose water weight by sweating in your sleep also. 2lbs should just be lost in your sleep al ong with a light breakfast or no breakfast. You will be fine missing breakfast until weigh in.
I don’t like to eat too much after I weigh in. I like to spread it out but it depends on when you are likely to lift. I tend to lift later on in the day so I have more time to recover and spread my eating.
Just enjoy it. You will feel a decent amount more powerful and stronger on the platform! LOVE IT!
