My plan for this year is to qualify for Nationals, which is in December. Qualifiers are mid-July to mid-November, so I’ll start my competition prep next month (12 week build-up).
Competing in the 69kg class, need 230kg to total, probably going for a 105/125…
Best total to date: 200, so I have some work to do.
I am planning to enter my first comp. at the end of July as a 105kg Masters.
I’m 39 and 6’3" - been lifting on/off since my teen years/ been Olympic lifting since the end of March!

Glad to see you competiting! It’s a lot of fun and you’ll do great!
We have a resurgent masters lifter at our club. Use to be top 3-4 back in his day and now he is in his late 30’s he has about a years training after 10yrs out of the game or so!!!

After the British in July I’ll do the Russian Squat routine for 6/7 weeks so then it’ll be the 2nd/ 3rd week of September so I could do the November comp up North. How far up North are you talkinga bout? Halifax/ Birmingham?
I always do the London Open in the 1st or 2nd week of December.

Lifted in the Irish Senior Champs on 24/4 @ 97.2kg and did 79/115.
Next comp’s the Ulster open on 29/5. Hoping to do 100/125+ @ 96kg.
I’ve snatched 95kg in training so far, and power cleaned 130kg.[/quote]
No reason why you can’t do them at all mate!

Thanks! Planning on doing the Rocky Mountain State Games in Colorado Springs 7/31. Shooting for 80/110 - I know its a big jump but what the hell. Hopefully technique work on the full lifts should help add a bunch of kilos - my lifts last weekend were all power snatches and cleans.

It’s not out of the question if your lifts were power versions!
2 guys I’m coaching, beginners to OLifts
Ones gone from 55 to 67kg in about 7-8 weeks in his Snatch, not sure of his C&J but it’s now up to 87kg
Other dude from no Snatch to 65kg and no C&J to 95kg!
You just have to put down the hrs and to be least be strong enough e.g. you won’t C&J your 2RM or 3RM yet, probably more close to your 4-5RM front squat. So shoot for those numbers!

Somewhere called Mytholmroyd, think it’s near Bradford. Bit of a distance from you though.
