When Does a "Fake" Pandemic Become "Real"?

I understand that you’re against this concept. So use the panels to kill off the weak and the unworthy and make way for the Nietzschean ideal.

Ehh…no.

Now you sound appropriately scared.

I do? I don’t feel scared, because I’m wearing three masks. #coronavirusfreezone

Too late. Your time has come. It’s for the good of the economy, supposedly.

I’m not sure that you’re familiar with how the #coronavirusfreezone formed by facemasks works. That concerns me(for you, obviously).

This is correct. The time for a fourth mask has come.

I bought my first-layer mask(the stylish one used mostly to signal virtue) from a local artisan, so it is. (My second-layer mask is surgical-style; my third-layer mask is N95; my outer mask is a military-grade gas mask)

I can tell you were never shown how to properly wear one.

Can’t figure out why we lead in cases and deaths…it’s a pandemic. Experts in the field are saying please do this we believe it will help. I’m here to tell you that you better not listen to them on my watch!

Schools must open now so our kids can become scientists and doctors and ignored!

Proper doesn’t matter. Four masks. #FlattenTheCurve

More like you’ll be flat on your back out cold.

“We can debate and argue all day of why and why not. The fact is, the amount of professionals that give the reason why we should, I can find the exact same amount of professionals that say why we shouldn’t.”

Whether or not one thinks we should wear masks, this sheriff is lying.

“Employees, however, can wear “only pre-approved masks” in some cases: … if they are at hospitals… Deputies should also carry masks while on patrol in case they have to respond to a nursing home or assisted living facility … or a call that involves a high-risk elderly individual…”

Hospitals and nursing homes you say? You mean those places run by healthcare professionals?

No Coronavirus, though. That’s all that matters. Death didn’t exist pre-COVID.

By Covid.

Sounds like you’re one of them Covid-deniers. Want to say all prior deaths were just “with Covid,” don’t you?

What?

I don’t disagree with anything you said, and thank you for the compliment.

That said, I don’t think China was truthful with Korea or Japan either, so for me personally it’s not either/or. Both those countries are much closer to China with at least as much travel back and forth daily (on a % basis, perhaps not absolute level).

No, it’s not meaningless.

They tested more people on a % basis than we have. But, and think about this, in any comparison effort that actually makes it MORE likely that we have more cases than listed (as you pointed out just below). But it also means they likely did NOT have as large am unknown error.

This widens the gap on balance of probability, it doesn’t close it. And you cannot credibly argue that a difference of 3500% - 5000% is “bunk”, “pure noise” or anything else. You can’t.

Yes, but as with anything in epidemiology, it is not as nice and neat as a controlled experiment. This is actually EXACTLY why statistics are useful.

For totalitarian govts, yes. But Korea and Japan are specifically useful because their governments are relatively open and data flows freely.

No. That’s effectively the same as saying “well, Pluto and Saturn are both farther from Earth so it’s pretty worthless to compare them”.

Please man, stop. I like you, but stop.

It is possible that was bureaucratic screw up. But it is also possible that the testing supplies and infrastructure wasn’t there. If you can get tests in the quantity you want because they don’t have the capacity to make them at that level, then you can’t test as much.

It is just like toilet paper in that respect–it doesn’t matter how much you want if the manufacturer can’t spool up delivery that quickly. I don’t know what it was in Canada, I haven’t been keeping track. But that is a possibility.

I do not envy your uncle, friend. But I hope he stays healthy, safe, and well fed. I haven’t followed Venezuela in the news lately but that isn’t the place I’d want to be.

This, this, this x100. We would not have even needed to do anything crazy just…not ignore it and prepare.

If your outer mask is a military grad gas mask, how will anyone know you bought from the stylish local artisan??

Excellent point. Much more helpful than @zecarlo’s pointing out breathing difficulty. Some people have their priorities all wrong. The virtue signal is the most important part of COVID prevention, so I’m dropping the three outer masks.

I said what I said, denier.

Personally, I find them difficult to compare because only one is a planet.

Pluto doesn’t even look like a planet.
