That makes a helluva’ lot of sense based on what is going on now, @cyclonengineer.
I’m also with you, @H_factor…there are a LOT of diseases I have not suffered from, and a lot of things that I have not personally experienced that I know still exist. (Starvation? Bullshit! All the fat people I see is EVIDENCE it doesn’t exist, right? FAKE!)
What’s concerning to me is the censoring of Dr. Immanuel on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and other various social media outlets. Does Hydroxcholorquine, zinc, and Zithromax work? I’m not sure, but I suppose it’s worth exploring regardless of how nutty she may sound.
It’s beginning to grow increasingly scary that literally anything not aligning with Democratic ideals is immediately censored. If it’s even remotely right-wing, boom, it’s gone.
Who gives a shit about her whack beliefs involving sexual assaults or whatever while people are sleeping? Of course that’s bizarre, but can we put that aside and acknowledge that there is an increasing amount of censorship on social media platforms that may or may not belong to conservative-leaning folks?
I thought freedom of speech was protected by the First Amendment. Apparently that has gone out the window now.
These are companies that are owned by shareholders - not some general publicly owned space where “free speech” is allowed like people want to assume. It’s the same thing as a newspaper/magazine. They can print/publish what they want and choose to get rid of whatever they don’t like.
Also, the right to free speech does not absolve one of consequences for saying dumb crap.
What @cyclonengineer said about free speech on someone else’s platform is right on, IMO. YouTube can choose who gets demonetized or not, who gets banned or not, who’s videos get taken down. You shouldn’t get first amendment rights on someone else’s website.
It happens that the stuff that gets taken down is more right than left, but it is also more conspiracy, not backed by facts, BS than the stuff from the “left” that isn’t getting removed.
Say the right somehow goes even more anti fact, anti science. Should private websites be forced to keep misinformation on their sites to be fair to both sides? What about if some of that information can hurt people?
It is entertaining, IMO. Their first evidence listed for Obama being a Muslim was a poll of Americans lol.
I’ve thought about this one lately. A couple thoughts on it. Why is it that the most educated are overwhelmingly liberal? It seems the idea I’ve heard the most from the right is that it is systematic brain washing. From the left it seems to be the idea that liberal ideas are more scientific, well thought out, evolve over time, so the educated are more attracted to them. I think it is concerning if you are a conservative, that among the most educated, very few are conservative.
Interesting thoughts and something similar has crossed my mind.
I am highly educated and tend to be conservative when it comes to fiscal & defense policy, but more liberal on social issues (though I also believe the government’s job is not necessarily to solve social issues). I am a Christian but can’t stand some the lack of respect/love for people that some Christians harbor (definitely not the model of Jesus).
I also think we, as humans, are in fact destroying the planet and contributing to harmful climate change (as evidenced by science).
Maybe I am a “different” or not “true conservative”, maybe I am in fact liberal in a lot of regards. Personally, splitting people into a dichotomy like that leads to nothing but problems.
Anyway - enough of a derail - if you want to discuss further i have a log (not updated in awhile) but I would be willing to talk with you there.
the very nature of conservatives is to want to conserve already held values/culture/processes/etc. This does not lend itself to the kind of outside the box thinking that creating a disruptive product usually requires. Conservatives are typically not searching for a new, better way to do things- they are wanting to hold on to the old way as it is better in their eyes. Also, conservatives tend to be older and not so reliant on and/or eager to find and use the latest app, or tech.
Most tech workers, and most people who work at tech firms are younger, well educated and generally liberal. Finding quality tech workers is incredibly competitive and a conservative product and work environment is not going to be very attractive so you end up with fairly liberal company cultures and company policies.
Of course HC and zinc work. They just don’t work like SHE is saying they do (i.e. miracle cure). I don’t understand what is so hard about this. If you don’t think zinc helps your immune system then you shouldn’t be taking multivitamins, but it’s not going to make covid vanish. HC has data pro and con. Zithromax is…I’m not touching that one with a ten foot pole. It’s not all or nothing.
No, it’s because she is a fucking LOON. It has nothing to do with democrat ideals. You can argue the censorship aspect all you want but this isn’t a case of party politics, she’s a nut.
This is pretty close to how I describe myself, other than the highly educated. I only have a bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. I think the fiscal policy of a country like Norway is far superior to the USA. Norway has more than their GDP saved and invested. Instead of paying interest, they get paid interest. Military, I think is about right where it is now. Maybe could give the same benefit being a bit smaller.
Good point here. There are conservative scientists and such. Many are somewhere in the middle.
Do you have an idea on it. These are just the inferences I have gotten from the right and the left. IMO, it is a bit of both, but other things in there too.
