When Do You Stop Eating?

As one who never feels big enough, because I’m not, I usually stick with the skinny-hardgainer advice when it comes to eating. Such as, drinking lots of whole milk, see how much you can eat in an hour once a week, or, you’re a skinny kid so junk food like burgers is necessary for your cheat meals if you can’t get your calories in.

I’m closing in on 200lb at 6’, so I’m wondering if I’m still considered “skinny” in the nutritional sense, or should I start tightening up my nutrition because I’ve got an ok amount of bulk.

At this weight, should I stop w/ the binge eating and the whole milk…or just any nutritional recommendations at all?

Are you fat? If you aren’t, and you’ve got your nutritional bases covered as far as healthy fats and lots of veggies and fruits, I don’t see the problem with eating some junk food to continue gaining weight. If you can get enough calories in to gain weight while eating completely clean, more power to you, but if not, don’t sweat it unless you’re packing on fat instead of muscle.

Skinny is 140 at 6’. What is your bf%?

It all comes down to what your goals are. Do you want to get huge, or do you want to be lean?

It is complete fallacy to ask someone if they want to be “huge or lean”, like you have to be one or the other. It is completely possible to be both and is what all of us should strive for. Anything less is just settling.

The one exception to this is if you are a PL and want to make a specific weight class, but seeing as this was posted in the BB section that exception does not apply here.

OP keep eating, the fat takes care of itself as you continue to pack on more muscle.

EDIT: oops this is in S&N lol, so which is it do you want to be a competitive 200 lb PL or do you want to be a bodybuilder?

You eat until you are happy with your size.

I’m 6’ and 200 felt far from big. I’m now approaching 240 and am starting to feel bigger then normal, although my forearms are still fucking skinny

I don’t feel ‘skinny’ anymore, but I don’t feel big either.

acelement yo kid when im bulking up i eat 9 grams of protein per pound and try to get in around 9500 cal a day[/quote]

Are you kidding?

Skinny is subjective. I’m 6ft 200 lbs and 16% bf. I don’t know if I’m skinny but I’m not even close to being big. I feel like I’m smaller than most guys in my gym. But I don’t think the average person at work would say I’m skinny. If you’re not trying to get “ripped” or “cut-up” keep gaining weight.

Out of curiosity what are your measurements and lifts like?

It is kinda absurd to say a number and height and get an answer. Your bone structure/thickness, how fat is stored, muscle fibers etc etc all play a role into how “big” or “small” you look.

I dunno, I think I might try to give my input, or maybe try to elaborate here… correct me if I’m wrong Adam…

At 6 foot tall (ish), when you’re under 200lbs, you really should just fucking eat. But once you get to 200 ish, and you aren’t as lean (13% or more), at what point do you stop “Just fucking eat”-ing?

If you are in your 17 - 23:
There is no possible reason to stop eating and growing. If you goal is to be huge eat right up to the point of your dad kicking you out of the house.

If you are 24 - 33:
You have no excuses. Get a damn job and buy your own food and eat and eat and eat until you hit your goal. If your goal is 250 lean, eat till you are 280 - 300.

If you are 34-40:
You are quickly losing your window to actually put on real muscle. You should already be big, or be nearing your goal by the time you are here.

Those that have been bulking for 10-15 years should have no problems, but guys just getting into the game at this point should realize they are playing against a stacked deck. The new guys should pay extra attention to their nutrition. You are not 18 anymore.

If you are 40+
Tough shit. Unless you are getting some Vitamin T, I would not gain more than 20 pounds without seriously assessing the quality of the gains, and the side effects of the extra weight - blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.

You can gain more on the juice, but you still need to pay pretty close attention to your overall health. Nutritional choices become more important. You are damn sure not 18 anymore.

^^ BTW…not mine…just think it sums it all up sooo well

Yeah I mean I know I gotta bulk to like 225-230 to get to a lean 205, but like I said, I’m wondering at what weight I can no longer “eat everything under the sun” – because that seems to apply to skinny kids, but I dunno at what point that mentality wears off for a guy who is 6 ft tall. If you want ot know what my frame is like, just look at page 5 of “Adam’s Physique Clinic” in the Training Log forum, or check out my gyminee profile at http://www.gyminee.com/locker_room/acconrad

When I go to bed!

If your 200 at 6 foot you need to get those lifts up bro.

"145x1 press
225x2 bench
335x6 dead
315x4 squat
185x1 clean "

Bench and squat in particular seem lagging.
