Rolling parts of your body over a foam roller to massage the muscles, basically.

Does anyone know of a really good resource (book, article or otherwise) that outlines all of the different movements you can do to hit the different areas of the body? I checked these forums and Cresseys video on youtube, but would definitely appreciate something a little more in depth. Thanks. [/quote]
Check this out:
Lots of sources and a free ebook by Mike Robertson down the page a bit.

I do it when my body feels like it eeeds it, which is everyday for my legs.
Having flat feet and being on concrete sucks. I end up rolling my hams, glutes/piriformis everyday.
I’ll do my quads and the above after a leg workout.
It’s fine to be used as part of a warm-up as it will increase blood flow to the area.
How do you get at your piriformis with a foam roller? I can’t even get at it with a ball. ![]()

I do it pretty much like this vid, except I use a hard ball.

Thanks bro, that’s perfect. Much appreciated!
i foam roll every morning.
EDIT: i use a golf ball on my glutes also.
I used to foam roll at the gym until I bought my own. At the gym, I would do IT band, quads, hams the usual but never the inner thigh because, well, it looked like I was humping the roller and I didn’t want the distraction of cardio bunnies noticing and swarming all over me (sarcasm).
Last week, I started rolling the inner thigh (VMO etc.) at home. The first time I did this I had tears the pain and tightness was incredible. It’s getting better.
Also, I have a tendency to flex the muscle when rolling particularly when I’m working a knot 'cause it hurts like hell. I have to make a conscious effort to relax the muscle and ignore the discomfort and keep rolling back and forth in short motions.
