absolutely - this is one of the reasons why I was using the snatch grip on DL’s. I’ve since gone back to the alternating grip, but need to watch my for also~
Thanks Edgy, I’m usually uber cognizant of my arms being straight I dont think I flexed my triceps enough which generally helps me straighten my arms out.
Good point Joe, Overall I am pretty uncomfortable standing on plates, but since it is exactly 2" I do it anyway. It is a tough angle but I would venture to guess I had too much shoulder over the bar and not sitting back enough.
Called for a 315 paused bench which was very easy,
Then reverse band Bench heavy single. First time ever doing these I did 405 for 2 singles, they were pretty easy however I tried to get so tight my back spazzed out so I stopped there.
Then 365x1 315x5 315x4 last set paused.
While it was fun to push up 4 plates with relative ease, do you think this has much carry over for a lifter such as I? More specifically I could definitely see this having some relevance if I was a raw 400 bencher, but Im at 365 touch n go for a single. Ill follow what Adam says because I trust him, but am honestly unsure.

Matty, I think the reverse band bench has some value in giving you the feel of more weight than your used to doing and probably a little value in improving your lockout strength as well but in my opinion ir is clearly an assistance movement only.
I don’t think any program centered around reverse band benches would increase your bench at all. Personally, I just don’t feel like I get much out of them and much prefer the slingshot if I am trying to get the feel of more weight while pressing. If Pete or some other huge bencher said something different I wouldn’t argue with them because what I’m saying is based on my own experience only.
I agree totally Dave, I am going to get a Slingshot soon for those Super Maximal days. It seems to me for someone at my benching level it has no use at all other than getting used to the weight in the hands. Once in a while for me only.
Speed Bench Against Monster Minis - 185x5x3
3 Board CGBP - 275x5 300x5 315x4 (failed at 5) 225x19

ss
Hammer Curls - 40x5x15
3 board CGBP was a lot tougher than I thought I would be, I honestly thought I could get 5 no problem, well thems the breaks. I was very happy to do hammer curls with very little pain.
Well overall I consider myself lucky just got my power back, and thank God my family and I are safe. Some horrible stories where I live in Staten Island, unfortunately death and destruction. As far as natural disasters go, the absolute worst I ever seen in the NYC area. From children missing and found dead, to fathers and sons found dead in their basements to whole houses being washed up onto highways to sailboats on boulevards, make no mistake no one is blowing smoke up your ass as to the severity and destruction of this storm. I consider myself extremely lucky to have simply had no power.
Onto lighter stuff…
Different gym syndrome…
All gyms in my area are closed so I went to my old neighborhood in Queens to train after work.
Is it me or do all weights feel at least 25% heavier in new gyms.
A 365 squat felt like 465.
I did 315 for a triple and it felt like 350. Finished up with 225x20 and 10 then some CGBP.
DL - some triples, at 405 and 455.
OH Press - 135x10 185x10 205x5

Reverse Band Squats(light bands) - 435x1 345x3x3
Speed DL against Monster Minis 315x5x1 315x1x5
CS Row - 3plts x 2 x 12 4plts x 2 x12
Meadows Row - 1plt x 20 2plt x 10 3plt x 10 4plt x 5 3plt x10
Chins, Clamshells, HLRs…
First time doing reverse band squats, gave me some bounce out of the hole for sure, but nothing after that, 435 was a real struggle, My squat has been stalling again.
