Thanks alot! HTS stands for Hires Training System, its a program developed by PLer Adam Hires.

Spoon press looks like form may be easier to dial in than tate presses while targetting the same area. May have to give them a try, thanks.

Looking real strong my friend. keep up the good work.

I would definitely agree, you have to play with the movement a little bit to feel it in the right spot, but once you get it, it really hits my tris and delts well sans the somewhat irritating movement that the Tate press could be on the elbows.

Still deloading blehhh

In other news…I had to retire my TK bands today they smell like death and other gym patrons are avoiding me like the plague

Is the other gym patrons avoiding you a problem?

good point lol

So I finally hit my 500 DL, for 2 singles…a long time coming, I got my 405 Squat and 500 DL in the gym, now to get that and more at my next meet. Bench is on the back burner for now. Onwards and Upwards folks!

Welcome to the 3-4-5 club, great job!

(or the 4-3-5 club if you are a PL purist, but it doesn’t have quite the same ring to it).

Matty,

I watched your deadlift video quite a few times, and in my layman’s opinion you could lift even more with a minor leverage tweak. It looks to me like your upper body is out over the bar just a bit too far in the setup/breaking-off-the-floor point. I ran two windows and froze your video and compared it to this one of Pete just when the bar was breaking off the floor. The difference in position is subtle, but I think you are leaving a few pounds on the table by getting over the bar just a bit too much. I hope this unsolicited observation isn’t overstepping my bounds, but this is a form tweak I have had to work on because my tendency is to pick up the weight rather than pull from behind and push through the heels.

No way bro! I appreciate it, and please keep em coming. I definitely see what your saying I am definitely too much over the bar, and teetering a lil bit. I like you have a hard time pulling from behind, it seems awkward. For a bit I thought I had it and I understand when the heavier weight comes form is going to break down a bit, but my form was fucked to begin with. I am always confused about how low to go, in Petes DL he got real low, I feel this may be beneficial for me as when I am doing defecit DLs I feel most powerful getting lower.

I have to pull 405 this week, and will vid them if you dont mind could you check out the form and see if it improves keeping your cues in mind?

Everyone has different leverages, but the thing I really like about Pete’s video is the way his head and shoulders stay in line with the bar the whole way up and don’t really move, its his hips that move in towards the bar throughout the whole lift. I think your back is so strong you can get away with being over the bar a bit, but if you got your head and shoulders lined up a little more with the bar you will see some very big numbers soon.

Thanks alot Jack, I am determined Ill tell you that much. I will get on that on Friday when I pull next it will be a lighter load but will really hammer down form and hopefully you can give me your critique
