What's up with it Vanilla Face?

BTW, were you trying to scratch your ass with your ankles on those pause squats? Those were deep and it didn’t look like you relaxed at the bottom to sink to that depth. Good stuff.

I WAS LOL! I gotta say I felt great on Monday, hmmm I wonder if the deload had anything to do with it? I was always of the mindset on deloads are not needed until they are, but as I am getting older I guess I have to be more pro-active then reactive when it comes to deloading. If it means deloading every 4th week and my performance and gains are increasing then Im all in.

I’ve gone back and forth on deload periods over the years, but the thing I don’t like to do is go ridiculously light on the main lift. Instead, I’ll do a moderate weight for 3x3, 3x5 or something similar (~70% or so) on the main lift then either bag the assistance work completely or go ultra-light on it. If and when I do use something like 5/3/1, that is something I will have to figure out how to cope with it.

Matty, Bro!, those pause squats were really, really nice. Your form is looking great.

And congrats on the 405!

Agreed, for me its mental I feel like I go to the gym and do nothing, 70% with reduced volume would be perfect.

Good job Matty, grats on the squat. Your pause squats look like the way I envision mine are, but when I watch them, they are no where that deep.

Thanks man! It was a major mental hurdle for me, Im hoping this breaks through bigger numbers on the platform for me.

Can’t ‘have it’ every workout. Making it through bad workouts is all part of getting stronger. And your bad workout look pretty damn awesome.

I agree with ecogenix for “not having it” that looks like a real strong workout.

Thanks a ton gents, that’s quite a compliment coming from you guys!

You paused on each of the 10 reps? Even with just 240, that’s some serious time under tension.

Yeah dude, Im trying to have all my benches paused, swallowing my pride lol!
